Personally, I thought Multiplicity should have been 1 or 2 more issues to deal with everything. Some things can be done with two issues (Dino Island was a fine two parter and it did seed other things, like the trans mat cubes).

But DC seems to be wanting, at least with some titles, to pare them down to 2 or 4, if they aren't going to be a six run.

Not sure why, but if done well, it might be OK. In this case, I think it will confuse people like me who aren't really reading Hal & Pals and don't really know who Hammond is outside of where he appears in others books (as he has in Superman sans Lanterns/Hal, and likewise other titles).
