You'd be surprised how not difficult some social and emotional problems actually are if you simply talk them out with people, assess when they can and can't talk, and determine whether or not they are emotionally compromised. Even heavy and traumatizing stuff. Proper networking and understanding people's strengths and weakness so that they don't hurt themselves or other people is an important skill everyone needs to learn. It doesn't always work but that's life. When personal problems overrun a project or get in the way of business things become a mess. You can't necessarily solve personal problems and it's not really your job to depending on who you are but as complicated as these things are there's often a method to the madness.

I obviously can't say that I'm the best socialite, I fail and sometimes I succeed, and I know when there is something I can't handle I brainstorm with other people who are more socially savvy than I am.

But you aren't in any position to throw stones. Steven using the sword would make him more like just another generic battle protag, it sounds boring and I don't get why people would want that. Opinions on Connie as a character aside, SU is largely themed around relationships and partners complementing each other's strengths. The whole concept of Steven and Connie as a battle combo, who are so in sync they literally become one being, is representative of that and is an interesting twist on the norm

Get it through your head. This is not a well-organized combat unit. This is not the Imperial Marine. This isn't even Dad's Army.

These are rebels. They're misfits. A hybrid who was never supposed to exist. The smallest quartz in the universe. And a pearl who is literally living her entire life denying her true nature, even though it is demonstrated and stated over and over again that she is, after all, still a pearl. Used to be led by a glorified nurse who was scatterbrained at the best of times and who has been dead for over a decade now.

What do you expect? The SEALS? The Gems are incredibly strong and experienced, but it is a very idiosyncratic experience. The power and technological differential between humans and other organic life forms and gems is so huge that, under normal circumstances, colonization would be a matter of course. Once Kindergartens and other facilities have been established, all you'd have to do is wait. What could a human even do about a Kindergarten? Would they even understand what they are and what they do? Or would they never even wonder at all as, over centuries, across human lifetimes, crops gradually fail more and more, wildlife grows more sparse and fewer children are born each generation? They'd probably move to more fertile ground, i.e. away from the centers of gem activity, and dwindle when even those reservations are gradually drained. Would stone-age people ever have made the connection? And if so, what could they possibly have done about it?

In a military sense, gems are absolutely inept compared to humans. They have no tactics, no strategy - they move like a machine which simply crushes whatever is in its way. Even as individuals, gems have been consistently shown to fall short of humans.

What the show has not displayed so far is true, dedicated evil. And I am not sure we're going to get it from the homeworld gems. Unless White Diamond turns out to be - finally - someone who chooses to be evil.

Blue is sympathetic, and really, so is Yellow. Aquamarine is a little shit, but even she showed some empathy towards Topaz.

Sugar stated the show has no real villains, but I have to wonder whether that is the right way to go for this.

Or maybe she wants to make the point that true evil is petty and inglorious and that is why the closest thing we have is Kevin, who is a douchebag at worst.

I think Rose and PD were somehow working together. Or they were very close, at least.
Otherwise, the CG would know anything about PD. Just in case they had to take on PD, or her troops, on their own.
But apparently there was never a plan to defeat any diamond. Just to protect earth from Homeworld and rebeal against the Diamond Authority.
They were both probably planning to agree a truce in front of the other diamonds.
The war was unleashed as a mean to a greater cause. You know, there's always a price for anything.

Maybe she, even as a diamond, was still young and had little influence in comparison to her sisters. So she wouldn't do shit on her own.
A war where a diamond (or two diamonds if we count Blue's participation) would struggle as fuck to win, would sell the idea that the rebellion were not messing around. Eventually Pink would surrender or something.
I case you wonder, Jasper was born mid-war, so she didn't have any idea of what was going on. She even said she fought as soon as she was born.
But someone knew about this plan (I bet it was Pink Pearl).
And told White Diamond.
And she apparently made the drastic decision of eliminating her.
They still had other Rose Quartzs bubbled. So they just had to unbubble one and put her at the right place, at the right moment.
It worked, as we're all aware.
WD didn't thought that Pink's shattering would lead to her forces (and Blue's) to diminish, and the rebellion to be impulsed even further.
The diamonds ended up terminating the war with the corruption event.
My bets:
Pink Pearl is a real bitch.
White Diamond is actually that kind of villain that is so strong but so dumb, Yellow can't help it but to be afraid of her.
Blue is gonna be so pissed when she finds out.
