Slott and Bendis share a similar disdain/willful ignorance of continuity and established traits. For Bendis, it's making Knowhere inexplicably resemble Mos Eisley and Star-Lord a Han Solo expy. For Slott, it's making a formerly antiheroic character with a playful back-and-forth with a hero a total villain with endless hatred for said hero because "Spidey shouldn't be friends with bad guys."

Then she comes back in the middle of Venom's debut arc, where she learns Peter and MJ are getting hitched, and she kind of fucks off after that, popping up again here and there for whatever reason the writers have at the time, and tolerating MJ whenever she'd justifiably bitch at her, because she cares about Peter, and he loves MJ, so she tolerates her for his sake, even though she had it coming for her past actions towards her during her "Psycho Ex" phase.

It's around the '04 Marvel Knights run where she's at her best in terms of characterization. Aunt May's gone missing, and all signs are pointing to Norman Osborn being responsible. To save her, Peter calls on the one person he knows he can count on for a job like this; Felicia. When the time comes, and they're about to begin, she confesses that she'd gladly take on a job as dangerous as busting Norman out of Rykers solo if it meant Peter wouldn't have to compromise his morals. After everything's all said and done, it's clear to EVERYONE, even Peter, that Felicia's hopelessly in love with the guy.

Then OMD tosses all that character development out the window, and Slott pisses on the corpse.
