Yeah the movie and the short have... Nothing in common beside both being made by Disney and based on the same folk tale.

In Trading Faces, Jimmy's "solution" to their bodies being swapped was insane. Both of their bodies still had each other's consciousness inside of them, he just had himself and Cindy permanently brainwashed into believing they are each other by trading all of each other's personality/memories/etc. Philosophically you can make the argument that it solves the problem on the outside, since you then have two people who believe they are who they are, but that fact that he did it to himself is nuts.

The jimmy you followed in the first movie and the first few episodes intentionally turned himself into a mental clone of the real cindy vortex forever instead of just finding another way to switch back, and the jimmy you follow after that episode for the rest of the series is actually cindy vortex. And nobody cares and nobody ever addresses it ever again after this episode.

Jimmy Neutron was a weird fucking show.

They just took all of their memories and emptied it in some place, them picked the right parts and put it together on the right pen-drives.

You are overthinking it. They literally traded memories, which is the exact same thing as a body swap anyway.

>>
>>95106867
It's literally stated as such by the obligatory Patrick Warburton character, but the Pig says she's fine as a demure girl now.
>>
>>95106526
I don't think there's a single good thing about it. Maybe the animation, back in its day? I don't know.

Very unlikeable characters, a very unrealistic and disorganised plot which is centered around the fact that these characters are so unlikeable (which nobody in the audience can relate to because they've never been scorned by an entire town), topped with cheap humour that is so dumb that it's an insult to the kid's watching it.

Some of them weren't just unlikeable, they were downright detestable but played as if they were likable characters. Case in point: the pig dude lobotomising the fox in the OP.
>>
>>95110045
The Pig didn't have a thing to do with Foxy Loxy's new condition other than suggesting the aliens not correct her scrambled mind.

As for the other characters, they were mostly harmless. The father was the real issue, given they imply something happened to the wife, but without anything other than the smallest of subtext, it's anyone's guess why he's such an ass to his son.

>>
>>95107108
>Both of their bodies still had each other's consciousness inside of them
Consciousness isn't anything that special like a 'soul' or whatnot, if people are laptops the consciousness is just the screen/display part interfacing with the world. When their memories and minds were switched their consciousness readjusted too.

It's like the other anon said, they just switched hard-drives.

The horror aspect kinda comes when you realize this wasn't a 100% perfect swap and their friends, who were tiring on the process probably just half-assed it and scrambled them around towards the end.

Chicken Little the Disney movie is about aliens though. People only believe him when the entire town gets attacked.
>>
>>95107108
>>95111737
No. You don't have to believe in mind-body dualism to understand this.

In the first swap, it simply placed them in each others bodies. They had each other's physical brains (as evidenced by their slow urgings to start thinking like each other) but during the second swap they switched only their memories, personalities, and abilities. The first time they swapped, they actually did, but the second time, they only THINK they did
>>
>>95112007
Some of the ideas for the CL sequel sounded interesting. Though if the same directionless writers were in charge, then it probably would have been the same mess as the first. MTR definitely is better staying a standalone piece, even it's pretty average as a film.

To actually swap memories and personality, their brains would have had to physically rearrange billions of neuronal connections and essentially physically transform back.

Brains are not a container for abstract inmaterial things, your brain physically changes with literally every thought and every memory added or forgotten.

>They literally traded memories, which is the exact same thing as a body swap anyway
no it's not.
memories only work relative to your current consciousness.
memories are not consciousness.
I think therefore I am.
This statement is important, because he can think in the now we know our consciousness is not based on artificial memories, we are now creating the memories.
If our memories were to be transferred to another being, they would no realize they are not the original, but we would not magically transfer consciousness to them.
You have created a new consciousness, a clone with your memories.
And just so you know for your analogy, when you move something to a pen-drive your data is copied and then deleted from the original drive.

This is basically the teleporter thing from Star Trek.
Your clone or inheritor will feel fine but it will not be your consciousness, you die.
You may be fine with this, you have a legacy in your transferred memories but it's a legacy like raising a child, you don't actually get to keep living through them.
>>
>>95123106

And by writing over their memories their brsins physically transform into the ones they previously had, or at least the fitting one.

Think of it like transplanting any other organ or limb. By growing the nerve connections and blood vessels and connecting tissue it becomes part of the right body, to the point reversing the procedure would in fact be just as unwelcome.

It doesnt really matter in the end though, since their consciousness were interrupted and their brains shut off for a procedure like that, they effectively just died and were recreated.

Jimmy knew all along there was no way to swap back and merely led Cindy on to believe this would be the solution to their body swap

as a failsafe, he encoded a trigger within himself (in Cindys body) designed to revert his own mind to him should Cindy in Jimmiys body be killed or compromised, effectively meaning he has cloned himself while combining himself with his main rival, the smartest, prettiest girl in school whom he has growing feelings for. Cindy, on the other hand, truly believes she is now Jimmy and lacks the awareness to recognize the differences in her own mind. She is effectively a perfect body double for Jimmy, and can continue his work exactly as he would have while providing the real Jimmy with security, as the show and movie have demonstrated he has made several interstellar enemies.

Jimmy has made himself into his own waifu. If you pay attention to later episodes set after this one, you will notice Cindy behaves in unusual ways, courting Timmy Turner during the crossover episode in order to learn more about the nature of his fairy godparents. This is Jimmy himself leaking through his own self-imposed mental conditioning via the sheer power of his brain.

Pig was probably self insert character for some producer who was a closeted furry attracted to Foxy Loxy from the original Chicken Little, so in a remake he made him into a female bully and demanded alien subplot to be added just to have an excuse to brainwash her into becoming pig's sex slave.

>It's Numbuh 3's Brithday.
>>As a gift she wants to operate a mission.
>Numbuh 1 sets a fake operation where Numbuh 3 just needs to order some children meals.
>Numbuh 3 enters the restaurant and orders a children meal.
>Worker takes Numbuh 3 and seals her inside a burger.
>>Turns out the place sells children to get eaten alive by the costumers.
>Takes Numbuh 3's Burger and sells it to a shark family.
>The sector V notices it, and desperately tries to save Kuki from getting eaten alive by a shark, to just fail on the mission.

>If Kuki didn't managed to escape by her own she could have been eaten alive by a shark on her own birthday.
>Chester (the store owner) didn't seem to care about murdering Children as long as it gives him money.
>Police wasn't aware of the restaurant.

False. MAGICAL creatures and objects are setient, there are plenty, but they are not everywhere.

An object has to have an spell to become setient, like what Godmother did on Shrek 2, and we are show that most animals are just animals, this is why a talking donkey is something worth of notice.

But nobody in Zootopia was oppressed. There were some preconceived notions regarding an animal's disposition, but not enough that it was barring them from jobs.

We ought to stop using the word oppressed when referring to lesser treatment. Oppression makes the misdemeanors sound like travesties.

On the subject of Rainbow Cat & Blue Rabbit, this scene was so dark it got the show banned for a few weeks. In order to save Sally, Lantu needs to collect a flower that requires a blood sacrifice in order to bloom. She cuts herself repeatedly and eventually has to slit her wrist to get it to bloom. The blood is poorly animated, but there is a lot of it.

Just consider that the man who runs the park is not stopped, there's no heroics, Pinocchio doesn't bring his operation tumbling down he simply escapes and we never hear from any of it again.

So just consider that as far as we know all those donkey kids were shipped off, and, unable to speak, served lives of backbreaking labor, and if they managed to escape they're still stuck as donkeys.

There's a theory that the talking donkey from Shrek is one of the kids from pleasure island who escaped, he was one of the ones who "could still talk"

The original ending song. Not as much dark though as it's terribly depressing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SuHL_-mNKg

Starts at 7:00.

Those who wait for fairies
Never learn
Those who live in the clouds
Will plummet down into the mud

There are no magic wands today
We are ruled by common sense
So every once in a while
We need to dream a little

Because there are no new miracles
Maybe it's for the best
Since life goes on
Or maybe it just plods on with us
Weeks, months, seasons pass in gray monotony
For sunlight you have to wait
But you must also see

That there are no new miracles
Our brain tells us
The head nods in agreement
But still the heart hopes otherwise
So sometimes, pretend that what you see is just an illusion
And see something different
Perhaps new magic
Dream about a new miracle.

In the series, she was usually the cynical or pessimistic one who challenged the optimistic ideals of the other animals. But deep down, she still cared for them.

It's an allegory for bar mitzvah, a Jewish ritual where young children need to recite some words.
in this scene Koslov, the polar bear, mob boss, is forced to put tame collar on his son.He tries to do it as gently as possible. Morris thinks it's something good, because it means he finally belongs. However his happiness triggers the collar zapping him. He cannot take it off, ever.
The next punch is delivered when you see Nick's collar turn yellow, it means even being sad triggers the collar.
And Then you realized every single predator in the city is going through this torment.

It's an allegory for the experiments done on kids where the class was divided between those with arbitrarily assigned paper collars and those without. Those with collars were treated as lesser and were provided with lesser and as a result, started to under perform in class.

Apartheid applies to this, read some history books. They added torture factor (inspired by the devices used on dogs and sheep) for extra punch to prove a point: that [white] majorities are unfair, racist and privileged.
>>
>>95187085
If you watch Vice's making of video, Byron Howard mentions the study with the collars in relation to the shock collars.

Now that I'm thinking about all the references to real world oppression of minorities, I wonder if it were intentional that Nick's crew somehow represents an array of historically oppressed peoples.

Speaking of Gumball, there's that one episode where they try to kill Alan because they overhear him talking about his plans to take over the school and put sad kids in concentra- I mean happy camps. When they come into agreement what they must do, they don't say flat out say they need to murder him, they just take turns making gestures at each other that are detailed enough to clearly imply strangling him with a rope or wire, snuffing him with a pillow, or tying a bag around his head until he asphyxiates.
>>
>>95187191

You are correct. Nearly every scene from the scrapped versions is about Nick being persecuted and/or tormented.

This one was played "for laughs" :

(running raw through concrete, very funny, guys).
However this one is blatant "gay person trying to open a business in homophobic world":

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Otot3oVIGdI

And this one is most probably reference to all these black people arrested brutally by police:

That catscratch episode where the black cat gets diagnosed with a terminal disease (with less than a day left to live) due to a mixup the doctors made

>the entire episode is about the two other cats being paranoid that the black cat wants to murder them so the three won't be separated
>a dog dies onscreen (he was the one with the disease)
>episode ends with the black cat being attacked by sharks (and implying that he dies, since the damn thing just fades to black while he is being attacked)

It wasn't THAT bad. It was shitty, but there were still people like Clawhauser. Bubbly happy people, which may only serve to prove that dumb people could be happy under these conditions or the collars have species appropriate settings, meaning that someone who is extremely fat for a cheetah wouldn't mind the shocks so much. I bet there were scenes of him getting shocked after geeking out about Gazelle too much.

This is how trading in Pokemon works. Each Pokemon is copied to the other person's game and the original gets deleted. That's why if you turn off the game before it saves, you keep your Pokemon and the other person gets a copy of your Pokemon. So every time someone trades in Pokemon, two Pokemon die.
>>
>>95125792
There's Superman being possessed by Starro in the Justice League episode too.

It's never established when he was possessed, or for how long, given that Starro had been in the Fortress since the present day and the only indication that it happened after JLU was Superman's Beyond costume in the flashback, but he was likely possessed for years if not decades.

This is a really interesting concept. It's the sort of thing you you never, or at least I never consider when thinking about teleportation/cloning but now that it's brought up I can absolutely imagine people "teleporting" to avoid guilt, whether morally or legally.

>>95204355
When trading pokemon you are morally obligated to cheat.
>>
>>95205238

It's honestly a pretty old thought and the ethics of teleporters are pretty much always discussed if they are used in sci fi, whether it's to hand wave the issue or why it's okay.

The concept of copying the matter of someone and what that implies is older than America.

>>
>>95201305
Yes it's different but the basic idea is there.
>>
>>95203174
And that's the beauty of using animal characters.

It's still silly to think that PC culture is causing physical pain as if any other culture isn't causing some sort of physical pain. Following that logic, one could say it's about toxic masculinity, caste systems in India, or being a woman in a Muslim country.
But no "people get mad when I say 'nigger'" is also applicable if you want.
