A movie could've been nice, but the format of the show seemed to be better suited for a 30 minute movie at most.

The show has modest support on /co/ from what I've seen for the past few years I've been here.

We did get 2 or 3 20-minute episodes, which were pretty ok, but I think a 1-hour movie could have worked perfectly, just like the Danny Phantom movies.

There were many things in the show which I wanted to see more of. Pantera's Bronze Boots made people tell the truth, but that power was barely ever used, and when it was, it was irrelevant. I used to wonder if there could be other Rivera's around, maybe some cousins of Manny of Pantera, who knows? That would have been something interesting to see.

Also, Cuervo's accent was pretty damn hot.

A 60 minute movie would have been cool. It doesn't get discussed much because it was a fun, solidly written show. (I.e. nothing to complain about.)
As for raging against "teh lols", normally it's because it's being overdone, it doesn't fit the character or the show as a whole, and/or it's all there is to the character. Frida most definitely wasn't a one trick pony, personality-wise. And she wasn't all that lol-randum, not really. She had her moments but they were fairly few and far between. And those times she did go off the rails they usually managed to make it entertaining.

The problem with El Tigre is that the moral dilemma he faced - being torn between a family legacy of heroism and a family legacy of villainy - was false. He never sided with the villains in the show. He would occasionally be naughty and do naughty things, but he always picked the hero side when it mattered.

Even in the special episode, in the villain ending, he still eventually got bored and ran off to do the right thing.

It's a family curse. They always leave their Cuervo love interest for a woman that leaves them.
In book of life extras it's revealed that grandpapi broke Sartana of the Dead's heart and that's what caused her to be stuck in the realm of the living. Her parents are the two gods of death in Book of Life and La Muerte is not fond of the Riviera clan, thus their isolated dwelling. It's implied that once Puma Loco kicks the bucket, he's in for a wild ride.

Now that I have to agree with! He never did truly evil stuff, he was more like a little delinquent teenager.

But that Dilema was wrong from the beggining because of Puma Loco. Puma was not truly evil either. There were moments when he would say things such as "EVIL WILL TRIUMPH OVER GOOD", but the most "evil" stuff he did was rob some precious jewels and whatnot. When the town was in danger, he was always there to protect it, together with his son and grandson. The only truly evil thing he ever did was set off that giant robot to desttroy the city, which he himself tried to stop.

It kind of feels like El Tigre would have been better if the premise fully embraced its wrestling roots and gone full into the theatricality of superheroism. So being a "supervillain" is more like a role you play rather than a judgement on your character, and thus the split between good vs. evil in the Rivera family is more about which side of the family legacy Manny wants to commit to than "do good things or bad things".

Eh. We had Mucha Lucha for the wrestling angle. El Tigre, despite it's lucha overtones, really was a superhero story. However, it was a *cartoon* superhero story, and that means cartoon evil, which is what we got.

if the show hadn't died so soon I think it would have been neat if Frida had gotten some powers of her own permanently, like say becoming the 2nd Plata Peligrosa, although one thing I found interesting in >>95075757 is that on the timeline in that pic Dark Leopard has a I affixed to his name, implying that they might have planned on having someone take up that name, which makes me imagine Frida becoming Puma Loco's successor while Manny ends up going full good guy

Frida did get powers in one episode. Specifically she got Tigre's if I remember correctly. In the end she decided that she was happier without them. And, frankly, she doesn't need them. She manages to be awesome in her own way. I think giving her powers would actually take away from part of what makes her such a great character.

I loved this show when it came out, and I was very frustrated, when it was canceled. Recently I watched this show again, and now I understand why it was canceled. They run out of ideas really quick. It should have ended on episode "The Good, the Bad, and the Tigre"
