Good evening owls,

Keeps getting weirder
>>
>>95069600
who has two thumbs and some new cactus

also some new goddammit that hurts
>>
>>95069714
>>
Well Mr Oz is anticlimatic
>>
>>95069766
did that leak? I haven't been following the Rebirth metaplot at all, so feel free to spoonfeed me
>>
>>95069812
Yeah the cover for Action #989 pretty much spoils that it's Jor El
>>
>>95069812
dear lord

>>95069846
I mean, at least then it's not the most obvious option?
>>
>>95069886
Real skeleton jelly vibe up in here.
>>
>>95069906
>>
>>95069925
Who do we have to fuck to get "Neal Adams' OMEGA THE UNKNOWN"?
>>
>>95069766
I wasn't expecting anything super exciting from that reveal anyway

it was never going to be Ozymandius or SBP
>>
>>95069886
Any answer other than preFP Lex is honestly boring af to me
>>
>>95069955
>>
>>95070044
damn, NYC rats are scary, he must be super-hungry
>>
>>95069600
Hello, Storyteller.

Having short hair again feels so fucking nice. Let's see what's up with Omega.
>>
>>95070088
mine is short and kind of blue at the moment
>>
>>95070044
Poor Omega lost all his muscles this time around.
>>
>>95070195
weird shit happens in grad labs, you know
>>
>>95070222
>>
>>95070266
this is also amazing
>>
>>95070195
Careful, Storyteller. Hair dye is the mark of the spooky SJWs, y'know...
>>
>>95070304
it's not very bright because I am far too lazy to bleach my hair, but if it keeps the kind of people who'd be offended even further away, yay
>>
>>95070304
Yeah nigga, nobody ever dyed their fucking hair before 2005.
>>
>>95070338
New Yorkers see weirder shit than this on a daily basis, which is well captured here
>>
>>95070338
That last panel is really great.
>>
>>95070354
there's this particular bug up some people's ass about chicks with blue hair, tho
>>
I hate Deathstroke being monthly, it feels like ages since the last issue.
>>
>>95070393
>>
>>95070411
Yeah I really miss the bimonthly releases on that book because it has a lot going on.
>>
>>95070365
>this page
It's like if the SCP Foundation had a comic book. All that needs to happen now is for a Mobile Task Force to show up.
>>
>>95070415
>>95070411
I wanna know what else Priest has going on, Antone mentioned that there was something new coming

Say, is anyone reading that Bane book?
>>
>>95070411
It's basically the only book that was making use of the space.
>>
>>95070490
OK, the Mink is now confirmed for supervillain.
>>
>>95070490
I haven't yet. Every storytime of it usually just has comments like "FUCK YEAH BANE IS BACK! FUCK THAT KEK KING FOR WRITING A SHITTY BANE" and that has not really endeared me to it
>>
>>95070411
Blame needlessly overcomplicated modern artwork. Telling you, comics could probably go back to regularly being bi-monthly, perhaps even weekly if the art was simplified. It would sure as fuck lower production cost at least a little bit.
>>
>>95070531
>being a butthurt bitch
kek
>>
>>95070490
>>95070520
he would be shot in public at the Alamo Drafthouse
>>
>>95070531
Sweet, they finally added that word to the filter.
>>
>>95070572
I think the capitalized version has been filtered for like a year now? Same time when they add desu senpai
>>
>>95070533
The coloring aspect of house style actually bothers me a lot more than any line art component. There are some comics that'd look better in B&W or with flat colors, but most everything gets this mandatory style applied to it.
>>
>>95070572
LOLOLOLOL

The best wordfilter was 'spider expert', but I think that was not here
>>
>>95070572
KEK cuck
>>
>>95070291
8th Panel
>"they do they work"
>"while you expand you brand"
Am i missing something? is that they way she talks, or did no one proof-read this shit?
>>
>>95070606
I feel like the way you see artists talk it seems like they are the ones dictating coloring style more than editorial.
>>
>>95070531
I either here comments like that, or "ugh what was DC thinking hiring Dixon???"

so I haven't heard anything useful about the book nor have I read it myself
>>
>>95070620
>>95070643
voting for the latter
>>
>>95070672
I have a near-zero interest in it myself but I haven't heard anything one way or another outside "Dixon's a bigot so IDC" which is not useful information either
>>
cuck
CLICK
>>
>>95069600
Wait, when did Omega take on Tom Scioli as artist?
>>
>>95070606
The sheer amount of shading in fucking comics these days is ludicrous. I get you want lighting, but holy shit, tone it down.

>>95070620
>spider expert
Do tell.
>>
>>95069714
Storyteller, you're supposed to move the cactuses around by the non-spiny bits.
>>
>>95070620
That was 7chan, right?
>>
>>95070533
Deathstroke does not have great art.
>>
>>95070725
I accidentally knocked two tops off this papyracanthus I just fucking bought but apparently you can root them so whew

>>95070726
yeah...
>>
>>95070673
I'm really there for Fenton seeing all this weird superhero shit from the perspective of her thesis.
>>
>>95070720
it was a 7chan wordfilter for 'faggot' which came to generally mean "person who knows a lot about some useless shit and insists on telling you about it", but it just has a good ring to it, you know?
>>
>>95070747
Yeah, that's the main downside to it. Great story, but C-team art
>>
>>95070672
Well, what they were thinking?
>>
>>95070783
I say this as someone who definitely qualifies as a spider expert in a number of areas

>>95070790
the art is strongly in the "illustrating the story but not definitively telling it on its own terms" category
>>
>>95069955
>Who do we have to fuck to get "Neal Adams' OMEGA THE UNKNOWN"?

Someone willing to drive a dumptruck full of money to Continuity Comics, I'd imagine.
>>
>>95069766
It's weird that something that really should be a game-changing reveal feels so boring.
>>
>>95070752
All my love for those middle four panels not being a C&P.
>>
>>95070076
He was willing to eat Pigeon, their terrestrial brothers would be no harsher on his digestive tract.
>>
>>95070411
Friendly reminder that he's showing up in Superman as a generic bad guy written by the hacks that wrote his previous ongoing because Johns and the other editors consider them Slade experts. Reminder that they also said Deathstroke was fine and didn't need any fixing.
>>
>>95070803
>>
>>95070803
Wow, this machine mutant monster is a Fall Out Boy fan!
>>
>>95070195
>kind of blue

Daboo dee daboo dye
>>
>>95070848
That's OK as long as I still get Prieststroke in the actual book.

>>95070849
OK, I really dig that last line.
>>
>>95070222
Would you characterize them as... gra/d/ labs?
>>
>>95070848
Lois trying to interview Slade sounds like a good plot
>>
>>95070849
>>95070863
that song will never die
>>
>>95070894
that implies graduate students actually have sex, lol
>>
>>95070803
>I say this as someone who definitely qualifies as a spider expert in a number of areas
Like opera, for example.

I'm(Cranky) a spider expert on Metroid. Texas Anon is a Wonder Woman spider expert, Judge Anon is a spider expert on Judge Dredd, etc.

You're right, that does have a nice ring to it.
>>
>>95070897
Lois trying to interview villains sounds good but the solicit sounds terrible and they're obviously ignoring Priestroke.
>>
>>95070365
I kind of want to see what kind of madness this particular Marvel Splinter Universe has in store for the Fantastic Four now.
>>
>>95070927
>>95070932
It's got this nice balance between derision and grudging affection

The door to the Labyrinth seems kinda more sex dungeony than it's previous appearances would have made me think. It's been too long since these threads had quality sex dungeoneering.
>>
>>95071177
>>
>>95071140
I get that FF fans are pining for the first family of comics, but is it really so bad that they have nothing to do with current Marvel? Think about it for a second.
>>
>>95071177
Me too, but I can't overstate how much I despise that 4 page explanatory sequence. That is a total letdown moment in this comic for me, and it's such a shame to drop that and then get into this which is actually fun, interesting, active and developing on something we saw previously too.

Like... did they just misjudge space? Did they think they'd run longer? Just suddenly realise they'd forgot to put in what they needed to put in earlier? That reveal should have been good, and the 5 pages of backstory at the start of this issue *were* good but... fuck.
>>
>>95071230
Part of me wants to run some of these godawful adult Boundless comics on /aco/ just to see if they're funny when I'm drunk
>>
>>95070533
It's not the art, it's the fact that it started selling below 30k regularly.

Green Arrow finally hit that and is going monthly.

Unless of course you mean you could start paying artists less if it were simplified art then yeah that could work too.
>>
>>95071248
Them "fixing the multiverse" is so much more interesting than what Marvel's been putting out lately

>OK, I really dig that last line.

It's pretty tight.
>>
>>95071248
Current Marvel in general is pretty bad. And they dont seem at all interested in changing that...
>>
>>95071248
No, it's not bad that they're not being pooped on right now, but I still miss them and await them coming back at a better time

It reminds me I wish I knew which JSA we're getting back, too
>>
>>95071273
There is a quality Exiles pitch in that concept that Marvel isn't using because they'd just Slott it up at this point.
>>
>>95071317
>>95071312
There are so many interlocked things going on

I had a good laugh at someone's tweet which was all "Marvel is putting out so many mediocre comics" because by reading their feed, I can tell what they think the dead weight is, and it's diametrically opposed to what many other people would tag
>>
>>95071317
Since Johns in charge,JSA will probably be pretty similar to his run.
>>
>>95071321
I want Exiles back just to shove the new O5 kids into it.
>>
>>95070951
desu I'd rather they ignore Prieststroke than try to do something with it and the characters and fuck it up royally.
>>
>>95071369
Yeah, I'm thinking post-Zero Hour team, maybe with a few tweaks to work current Stargirl back into it. THe one person I've seen long for pre-Crisis Roy Thomas second gen is probably going to be disappointed--I'm betting they lean hard on cutting out Trinity stuff, which is fine with me
>>
>>95071055
Agreed. An exposition dump that heavy feels completely out of place in a book like this. And having the satirical talking statue deliver it through song did not help.
>>
>>95071427
>>
>>95071270
What I'm saying is that the over complicated art is likely a contributing factor for why comics went monthly, and that the changeover ultimately hurts sales. Most people are not going to wait around a month for a new issue to come out. Us regular readers are frankly fucking crazy.
Simpler art theoretically allows for a more frequent release schedule. It'd also help to go back to done in ones, since most people aren't crazy or stupid enough to wait around a whole month for a mere piece of a story, but that's another matter.
>>
>>95071494
anything good out this coming week?

I read the Bleeding Cool pre-review of the Bendis Generations Iron Man one-shot and I don't remember when they've run something that negative about a single comic, lol
>>
>>95071535
>rest of campus: bleh, usual day
>>
>>95071535
Maybe BleedingCool is running as many catchy stories a possible before shuttering down

Anywho:
Deathstroke
Shade #12 (possibly final issue + "crossover" later)
Doom Patrol #8
I have Saucer State to pick up from a few weeks ago too.

>It's the ultimate extension of the meaningless generations of X-peeps we've had.

As much as making the school a proper school with an actual student body was one of the few things I liked about Morrison's X-Men, I can't help but feel it's also what truly cemented X-students as completely disposable fodder.

Reminder that thanks to Generation X and modern date namings, Quentin Quire (boy genius) has been in high school like SIXTEEN YEARS
>>
>>95071823

I'm so in two minds about this book.
>>

god I hope so

I've been worried they'd do the opposite and somehow shoehorn Robo Lois and Val-Zod in
>>
>>95071860
Even if you accept that argument, literally bringing back the original kids is just insulting.
>>
>>95072094
I'm kind of hoping that they don't even try to reconcile Peej and just let her go off into Limbo for the time being, but I can see her somehow being worked in. Helena Huntress and Fury are just too tied to Pre-Crisis and I don't think anyone's motivated enough to put in the work.
>>
there's a preview out for Dastardly & Muttley http://www.buzzcomics.net/showpost.php?p=1724549&postcount=1

also delicious Smugnestro back in Superman 30
>>
>>95072143
I'd be okay with no Trinity-tangential characters whatsoever, but I don't think we'll be so lucky

I could see them leaving Peej in limbo for a while and probably not bothering at all with Helena Wayne since Helena B is Huntressing around again
>>
>>95072143
Fury will probably remain with Daniel.
>>
The campus stuff in this is just perfectly put together.
>>
>>95072143
Reminder that /ourpeeg/ is not the one on E2. The E2 one was created when the multiverse came back.

Just have /ourpeeg/ trapped like the rest of the E0 JSA.
>>
>>95072212
the Fury that was Diana and Steppenwolf's lovechild will hopefully just cease existing
>>
>>95072220
That's also fair, I wonder if we'll basically get Johns v2 or end of Johns v3 characters, but I'm pretty sure we're not going to get any Guggenheim, hopefully

Who's wearing the Fate helmet is going to be a bellweather for where we hop from

>>95072173
Yeah, the hard reboot was a good reason to bring back Helena W but now she's really superfluous and her backstory is too dependent on specific things to play the Two Wallys game, which has been handled with some skill

>>95072216
it is clearly written by someone who knows and loves academia
>>
>>95072282
>Who's wearing the Fate helmet is going to be a bellweather for where we hop from
Who's been the one showing up in Blue Beetle? Kent? It seems likely they're going to go back to him, he was in Injustice and he's basically the least complicated one to use

RIP Khalids
>>
>>95072095
Oh, I wasn't disagreeing with him at all.

The turning point of New X-Kids being their own thing into cannon fodder was Morrison expanding their numbers by orders of magnetude. And the ultimate expression of that irrelevancy is Bendis seeing positive reviews for Jeff Parker's First Class, going "MINE" and making them "the new X-Kids"

It's the worst possible thing they could have ever done to the X-Men, which has always been about change and kids growing up even above the whole metaphors for bigotry.
>>
>>95072318
If we get INZA too I'll be happy enough; Hector is probably a no-go because he's such a Hawksnarl adjacent difficulty, although since they seem to be going with Carter he wouldn't be that hard. Jakeem taking over from old Johnny is easy to do, you can fold in Atom Smasher without going into all the backstory...
>>
>>95072432
>Jakeem taking over from old Johnny is easy to do

I guarantee he's the great grandson that was mentioned
>>
>>95071535

POor Marco Rudy
>>
>>95073348
>Generations: The Iron with Tony Stark and Riri Williams is one of the worst superhero comics I’ve ever read. It takes some of the most egregious Bendis writing habits and runs wild with them. 30 painful pages filled with mismatched art from three pencilers, four inkers, and three colorists. It’s so clear that this was a last-minute production with little to no editorial oversight — no one at the wheel.
>>
>>95069600
>>
thanks OP
>>
>>95069925
This is genuinely pretty awesome.

I could get behind an Omega Corps in Marvel, fighting a seemingly endless stream of genocidal robots throughout the cosmos, inviting members of every species to join them on their guardianship/crusade.

Heck, I even like the Novas, but the Omegas are more interesting.
>>
>>95070841
If it doesn't fly, it isn't food.
