Small brush fires are ridiculously common around here. There was one right behind the ass end of College of the Canyons yesterday that burned 10 students' cars and I only found one article on it. It's a nice community college right beside CalArts.

When I was getting out of work there was ash falling. Then my neighbor called to tell me the power had gone out in East Hollywood again.

Irembwr back in 04 when the hills we're on fire so much they had to cancel schools and issue an emergency warning to prevent people from going outside. It was raining ash, and looked like a scene straight out of silent Hill. I remember sitting at my window looking at a light post outside as ash was puring down around it as it flickered on and off.

This will be the second time I have to put up with this...

This will amount to nothing. The Verdugo hills over Burbank are on fire. And while yes... it is becoming a large fire, threatening homes, etc... there's about a mile or two of fuel-starved urban neighborhood between downtown Burbank and the mountains; and another mile further from the actual fire. CN building will be fine.

Sometimes the Metrolink was safe to run during the Sand fire. Interesting imagery looking out of the windows as the train went through the mountains. Some Harry Potter shit. There was also a news story about someone's pet turtoise found fleeing "as fast as he can" down a street.
