Mr. Oz is Jor-El, he's basically trying his best to keep people from knowing about Manhattan because if people know about it Superman will confront him, something Jor-El doesn't want for his son as Manhattan will likely kill him. Oz is actually incredibly proud of his son and his grandson. Oz is operating in the Phantom Zone, but it's different than usual because he is able to make a pocket within it using kryptonian technology. Tim is off the table because he'd figure out something is wrong. Conner is taken off the table (hence why he's completely missing) because Oz feels Connor would tell Superman. Mxy was taken off because Superman being split in two was the safest way to keep Superman from Confronting Manhattan, so mxy couldn't be let out incase he fixes it. Oz basically kills metallo because of the threat that Kryptonite has to his son. Oz is "killed" by Manhattan at the end of the event which leads Superman into his mindset at the beginning of Doomsday clock. And just for some trivia, they chose the name Oz because they wanted to go for the "man behind the curtain" approach

It's the Reborn version, there's a reason why jurgens laid out a version of him after Reborn

>>
>>95012533
no fuck off, you didn't have to have blue dick at the start of rebirth

rebirth could've just been explained as the multiverse "resetting" the balance or some cosmic mumbo jumbo and be done with it

i'm not even a moore fag and DC/johns is obsessed with following up on his work. watchmen should exist in a vacuum, bringing it into mainline dcu cheapens both the dcu & watchmen. they should've just used morrison's NOT watchmen and called it a day if they want, but johns thinks he's more clever than he is and wants to be slick for no reason but being a fanboy and nobody in editorial can keep him in check now

everything leads to doomsday clock, so manhattan's shadow is a big part of it. and jor-el as a story device outside of being blasted into space dust is shitty
>>
How does jor feel about his daughter in law

Jesus fucking Christ do you faggots EVER stop bitching about shit? What the fuck is there to bitch about

>>95012219

It's stupid because it cheapens his death and sacrifice. And raises all sorts of questions, like if he survived the planet exploding... where the fuck was he all of Superman's life?

>>95012856

I get you Anon. Do you get me? The greatest sin in a lot of comics is cheapening character's deaths.

>rebirth could've just been explained as the multiverse "resetting" the balance or some cosmic mumbo jumbo and be done with it

See anon, this is why The Monitors are a concept DC should not have abandoned. The Monitors need to be able to exist outside of timelines and multiverses and basically keep track of and regulate them. So when shit goes down, The Monitor can explain it.

I want to write for DC and that's a book I'm going to pitch to them, The Monitor -- a comic book that keeps track of all the insane plotlines they put out, puts them on all a timetable/scale and connects them all. With it's own cool stories about different universe, how they'e born, how they die.

And the monitors are only the lair above us. Above them is the Omniverse which is metaphorically DC's editorial team and WB as a corporation. Like Middle-Earth, owned by WB is in the Omniverse, but not the DC multiverse.

Anyways, blah blah blah... I just want concepts solidified and settled to avoid all this shit.

What kind of mindset are you talking about Superman getting into at the start of Doomsday Clock? Clark going super-duper obsessive about finding Manhattan? Clark going Injustice level batshit insane violent because his dad died a second time? Or Clark pulling some high grade Superdick subterfuge where he starts acting super OOC to force Manhattan to reveal himself so he can kick his ass?
>>
If Rorschach shows up in Doomsday Clock, it needs to be done in the form of a hallucination form. IE Manhattan has so fucking lost his mind, he has taken to pretend Rorschach is still alive to say the things he can't bring himself to say about his dark road that he's went down, fucking with the DCU

>>
>>95014236

And why is he revealing himself NOW? He could have been raising his son on earth the whole time.
>>
>>95014042

I only like them using Manhattan if it's something like this.

Like after Watchmen he started exploring the multiverse when he got bored/done with exploring the universe. And then he started playing around with the universes and causing timeline problems.

Like you said, eventually going more and more insane and he keeps shedding his humanity. So it's not just "LOOK GUYS WATCHMEN" more like "this is the logical conclusion of Manhattan's journey"....

I'd rather them not use him at all but this, to me, is the only way to go.

I don't think Conner is coming back yet. His reason for being pulled off the table makes no sense, he usually barely talks to Clark. But the idea of Tim finding him in time prison is very romantic and I wish that was happening.
>>
I'm just glad Connor is not lost in the stack of papers of editorial again
>>
I don't see why Oz being Jor-El would make Superman question his faith humanity like indicated in the solicits.

On the other hand, there has been some set up for Jor-El post Reborn which is kind of random, and the only alternative (based on the whole "I told you to never give up" stuff) would be Jonathan, which has no set up at all.

>>
>>95018291
Maybe Tim would tell Kon he thought something was up? That's my best guess.
>>
>>95018291
Also why has Conner been erased completely from existence while Oz only faked Tim's death?
>>
>>95018604
Probably because the last time we saw Conner he was fucked beyond repair, and they didn't see the point of fixing him at the start of rebirth if they were planning on doing this with Tim. If it's true that they want to make room for another teen book, they might have wanted to hold off on bringing Conner back until that started.
>>
>>95018692
Isn't Conner the other prisoner in Oz's hideout?

guys, new comic fag here. I'm currently reading superman 2011 issues, but sometimes the issues are completely unrelated and stop midway, How the fuck am I supposed to read comics ? are plot points given up so easily or something ?

I'm at that moment where superman is becoming doomsday and is searching for a cure, next issue he's back at the daily planet completely healed.

do I seriously have to search for a specific issue from a specific character related to the plot to continue reading the scenario? this is fucking dumb.

Tim? What about Wally, Bruce and Barry (Button), Reverse Flash, who already KNOW something is wrong, and in fact have come close to Dr. M ? Are they addressed at all?
>>
>>95021644
Yeah. He was acting like Superman's father, and having him be Pa Kent would be considerably crazier than Jor-El, who already has a history of being a somewhat shady guy across various continuities. Pa Kent is only shady in the Snyderverse.
>>
>>95022029
I thought Tim being pulled off the table was just so they could somehow involve pre-flashpoint Tim like they did with Superman, but he seems to be returning exactly the same as he was, so I'm confused about the point of all of this.

>Escapes. Tells everyone what he experienced.

Oz should have let him be.

I don't know, but if OP spoilers are true, there are a lot of holes in the narrative. Like it makes more sense from an editorial point of view than from an in-universe one.

Sure, JOHNS said Manhattan isn't a villain, so we, the readers, know this, but does Jor-El know this? All he knows is that he doesn't want his son to fight Manhattan because Manhattan would fucking wreck Superman. It seems logical, to me at least, that you would then want to have a few back up plans in place in case you aren't able to prevent your son from doing the thing.
