Oh and when you kill an enemy in the platforming bits they poof into dust and the explosion is too visually distracting and takes too long. haven't seen much that makes me interested in playing it but I know some nostalgic 'grew up on Betty Boop/felix the cat' people who love it already.

Absolutely genius art direction. Cuphead is way cooler than any of the characters he's inspired by, and the overall look is just better executed than most products of the era that it's paying homage to.

The boss rush aspect looks fun but I'm worried the shoehorned platforming sections will be its werehog stages. I'm getting a style over substance vibe.

I hope it's good but, barring that, I hope it's successful enough to be a franchise. I really hope these characters and their world don't get wasted.

While I do adore it's art style, I wouldn't go as far as to say it does it better than the source material that inspires it

I even find that cup heads art direction isn't always fully consistent or accurate for the cartoons it is based on. Still love it, and think it's definitely the closest we've ever been to old cartoons in a while.

I was excited at first, but now I'm kind of weary about it. The sound feedback doesn't seem very good, so hitting the bosses doesn't feel satisfying. Also disappointed that they decided to waste precious dev time in those platforming sections, which are mediocre and forgettable at best.

Since I read the game will be out in steam to I'm eager to play. The visuals, the music, look perfect, and though I'm not really into bullet hell, I'm willing to give it a try.

But does someone else find the game incredibly unnerving?

Maybe it's the way the enemies move and deform on screen, maybe it's how sadistic their smiles look, how eager and happy they look with the idea of destroying you. Or maybe is the concept where you're trapped in some kind of semi-death and have to hunt all the bosses for their souls, so they can't escape eternal punishment. I don't know exactly which one, but Cuphead creeps the hell out of me.
