Picture to (hopefully get TimeClockanon's attention! Promised some Hensley ephemera yesterday, thought I'd start with a very under-seen, very under-rated cartoonist...The Sof' Boy Econo Digest comprising issues 1 & 2

I think this is what you're thinking of, possibly? Unless I'm mistaken...Archer Prewitt, the cartoonist, is the lead vocalist/rhythm (?) guitarist of the Band The Sea And Cake

Ah, could well be! Kind of adult in places, really highly-praised comic and it still is, guess it just doesn't get talked about as much any more though, maybe? I love the rock star bodyguard arc

Hah, y'know the UK quiz show Eggheads? Well the oppossing team were all made up of cartoonists, most famous was Martin Rowson, guy who draws for Guardian/Observer, and they'd knocked out all the Eggheads and (coincidentally) the decider question for the last Egghead was : "What is a shmoo?". So, yeah, Lil' Abner sounds about right. The shmoos die with delight when someone wants to eats them, they're the most delicious tasting creatures on Earth.

Oldish uber-rare D & Q comic by moonlighting rockstar. Well, musician, not really a "rockstar" if you know what I mean. Archer Prewitt, Sea And Cake and solo stuff. Chicago scene. Good mates with Chris Ware.
Comic is probably the definition of "cult phenomenon". Roy has a Sof' Boy figurine in his nook in The I.T Crowd.

Gonna split up the Hensley Duplex Planet stories
Heartbreak of Fergie
(For anyone not aware, Duplex Planet started as a zine by a guy called David Greenberger, who'd ask various questions to residents at old folk's care homes and record them. Their responses reside from sad, to wildly surreal ramblings, to "traditional" wisdom of a life well lived. Fantagraphics picked up the title and made it into a comic after Clowes illustrated one of Greenberger's transcribed tapes for the bag issue of an old ish of Eightball).

Oh, gave an Anon a link ealrlier...check this bitch out, 2' x 3' originals, closes-ups of him drawing...get this, I was able to identify the type of brush he uses (I'd heard in a few pages that he used one new synthetic watercolour round PER PAGE, dunno if the last part's true)...and get this, they're for fucking FACE PAINTING! Pause when he's inking and you can see the name of the brush, google it, I swear I'm not making any of this shit up...anyway sorry for digressing, he'y'are, mate: https://art21.org/watch/art-in-the-twenty-first-century/s8/chris-ware-in-chicago-segment/
