It was legitimately the worst and soulless film I've ever seen in my life. Fuck this movie. Even B grade horror flicks and mockbusters are better than this.

Really I would say many people (myself included) hated on it and refused to see it was more about what it represented and how obviously corporate it is

I have to agree. "Nut Job 2", "Spark", "Yu-Gi-Oh: Dark Side", those were that bad. "Emoji" at least has nice art, and like the subplot about the parents.

I think the product placement is the reason why everyone hates this movie so much.
