I think they are unironically good, not just being edgy. They talk about a very real and sadly not as uncommon as people like the think topic. The comic itself shows this with the family trying so hard to pretend it's not happening and community figures like Clarissa's teacher ignoring the obvious warning signs maybe subconscious. Clarissa is a very sympathetic character. Her family blames her like people often blame victims of anything and everything in real life even though she's just a little kid and powerless to stop it. It's actually a pretty realistic take on the topic and problem. People reacting to it just mirrors how people try to ignore this kind of abuse in real life because it makes them uncomfortable personally ironically allowing the abuse to continue and the victims to go on suffering.

Yeah, the manga ends ambiguously, as with most of Rumiko takahashi's works, but it's implied that Ataru and Lum do gettogether, as Ataru never really gets the reset button on his character development in the manga, as opposed to the anime.

Every time he was close to realizing his dream of a harem, he threw it all away every time because Lum wasn't there. He does on some level care for Lum, but hesitates to follow through on his feelings because he disliked the idea of being tied down by only one woman, being a perpetual harem seeker. Of course, he does seem to be growing out of that, if the manga's ending is of any indication.

Not really dude, Hugo would've gotten a better grasp of his powers as he matured no doubt and it didn't really matter whether he did or didn't; the Elsen were already pretty fragile constructs with zero relation to humankind. If anything, the batter went rouge because Hugo had a fucked interpretation of a proper father figure given his relatively young age and the traumas he faced during the initial experimentation (basically drug him up until he could produce some degree of psychic phenomena).
