Nah, there's a pretty clear difference between the first season and the current season in both shows.

Steven Universe had some decent, subtle lore setting and was trying to find out what it was good at. Season 2 chose a path that specifically pandered to /tumblr/ and now things are way too unsubtle and predictable with shit pacing.

What if for one episode of each we put the R&M team in charge of SU, and the SU team in charge of R&M

Star Vs is much more subtle about it. SU feels the need to have a character cry every time they want drama and R&M thinks monologues where a character's personality is dissected = drama. Star Vs. will have something as subdued as Star playing a game of magical truth or dare and come to the realization that she isn't sure what she wants in life and then give a small smile about it.
