The townie episodes are godawful, anon. They do nothing but destroy the pacing of the show and interrupt any ongoing arc the show is going through. It's not like Wander Over Yonder where the threat is constantly looming over everyone's heads and is a huge motivator for even the inconsequential episodes. Steven literally forgets about everything the moment the townie episodes start and any development of his character is wiped clean. The show itself even points out this bullshit with the Ruby fiasco.

The worst part is the slug slow story pace + the slow updates. With proper writing, it could work out. However it takes many seasons until we even got to Homeworld let alone learn about life there.

That said, I have to agree with most of their complaints. I hate what the show did with Peridot and Lapis, the townie episodes mostly (though not always) suck and Bismuth was more interesting than any of the CGs during the last two seasons or something. I am honestly more interested in HW and new gems or the HW we already know than the CGs or barn mates at this point.
