Honestly, i think it is still to early to judge if the show will be good or not and to describe it with "X meets Y", we only have 2 episodes that are basically two parts of the same one, and ain't getting jack all until like a month from now.

From what's been seen so far, that looks like it might shape up to be a reoccurring theme in Donald's life. He probably didn't want, nor was he in a feasible financial position, to become a single parent to his three orphaned nephews but did so anyway because it was the right thing to do, and he wasn't enough of a heartless bastard to leave them. It might even be the case that Donald initially didn't want to go adventuring with Della and Scrooge but went anyways because they were family and they might get in trouble.
I would actually really like it if Donald's Life story turned out to be that of an ordinary man(duck) forced to rise to extraordinary occasions and actually performing unexpectedly well in them.

Most of the european comics have their roots in an expanded Barksian universe, and Don Rosa's stories are mostly based on Barks.

After that, try some Scarpa, to see where the italian comics headed before you get into the concept of a "Barks and Rosa Canon". The Duck comics are for the most part made with Barks tradition in mind, not Rosa's(kinda a given, considering Scarpa was active in the 60s and Rosa only in the late 80s).

Rosa's Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck is fantastic, but it doesn't need to be the first thing you read.

They did not bastardize Rosa, the Duckales show was made roughly at the same time as Rosa made his first few Duck comics.

I thought it was because the second trilogy of movies was supposed to be about Luke's twin sister, so they foreshadowed her in the second movie. Then Lucas began realizing that doing 12 movies was too ambitious, so he wanted to tie up that loose end with the third movie. Making Leia into the sister was the best he could come up with unless he wanted to have a new force user walk into the plot.

The Darth Vader twist was done for similar reasons. Lucas had to cut Luke's father from the second movie, so he just merged the character with Vader.

The more and more I hear about Duck-verse the better it sounds. It's like I've been missing out all this time.

My problem with the show right now is that it feels too much like Gravity Show, with Dewey as Dipper/MC, Webby as Mabel (yeah, I know this comparisson has been done ad nauseam), Scroodge as Stan and Launchpad as Soos. The other triplets were more like background noise on the pilot and it's worrying considering it's supposed to set the tone for the show. Dewey feels so whiny, reminds me too much to Dipper and Launchpad's humor reminds me to Soos. The connection between Stan and Scrooge is easy to make, flawed greedy old men but with a good heart
