Why is Meg rarely used in Family Guy these days?

Her original concept was the unpopular teenager who blamed everything on her parents.
After that concept died really fast, and showed that's the worst type of character they decided to just shit on her relentlessly. After than got old they would bring her in rarely. They don't know how to write a likable teenage girl.
