He was already on the edge because of all the previous adventures, he tricked rick into going away just so he could have some peace and quiet, when Beth started acting petty he broke the phone she was holding in her hands, which was his own phone by the way, this was just his own way of getting revenge for the ruined day and passing it as a just and moral thing so he can feel okay about it. He just wasn't having an anger attack as is usual when he does shitty things, but it has been shown in the previous episodes that he's growing tired of everyone's shit, so it still makes sense.

Show's not ruined yet, 1, 4, and 5 were pretty good, 2 just happened to be the lowest point in the series so far and 3 had nothing going for it but fun violence.

The scene where Morty is running away from the bug police in the first episode is so much funnier than anything in season 3. I noticed that, too. I would say in general that the main thing I noticed is the more female writers something has the more likely the female characters are to have flaws and even be fucking terrible human beings or utter wastes of humanity. When you have a ton of idealized female characters who can do no wrong it's usually all male writers. Add female writers and the female characters are more likely to be weak people, evil people, have other flaws and weaknesses and so on. Now Beth is shown as being in the wrong and a fucking bitch more and so is Summer.
