Well that's the thing, canon has established that the Rebellion literally didn't do anything in that time period. They make a point that Leia is taking a huge risk because the Rebellion hasn't gone on any missions since ESB. The only story they have for that era is whatever Luke did. It's the same ordeal as an Obi-Wan film that can't happen because it's established that he did fuck all in between RotS and ANH.

Explained better? Off the top of my head, I can't really think of anything. But there's a fair amount of stuff that I didn't see any reason to change, like the Jedi homeworld or the origins of the Sith. I cling to hope that the events of Tales of the Jedi are still canon in some form or another. Same with video games, like Shadows of the Empire and Republic Commando. And there's a lot of WEG D6 material that I wish remained canon, though much of it has been grandfathered in regardless.

Other aspects, like Kyle Katarn stealing the Death Star plans in a one-man mission that is not even the climax of a video game, but its introductory level, are definitely better in the new canon.

That I said, I do ultimately feel it's somewhat disrespectful to the writers and fans of the EU to just throw it all out. I completely understand why they did it, and I personally hold no grudge, but I can see why it rubs a lot of people the wrong way to find out that the Star Wars they've been enjoying for decades isn't "the real Star Wars." I personally would like to see some EU stuff edited and republished as part of the new canon, rather than all of it simply being relegated to Legends. It seems like a waste of a lot of great material, some of which, like Heir to the Empire and Shadows of the Empire, was even developed in conjunction with Lucas.

I'm aware, but the game itself is still considered non-canon. And I don't see them ever remaking it or overwriting it with a new book or something. It easily COULD be canon, sure, but that's my point. There's a lot of material that could still fit, but by branding it Legends they are practically guaranteeing that it will never be touched again.

As a fa/tg/uy I've been playing around in my own personal Star Wars universe for a long time now, so the notion of canon has never been a particularly big deal to me. But the idea that Delta Squad will probably never be heard from again is somewhat disheartening.

I've watched ALL of the TCW episodes with them. And I know they've been bringing in lots of bits of the old stuff. But I really did like a lot of the viking/nomad/mongol stuff they had before, plus all their history (some of which has been alluded to in the nu canon)

Having literally every jedi go through the exact same trial is boring. It's cool maybe twice to see and then it's a carbon copy thing. Whereas it's much better if someone like Corran Horn has his hereditary stone and then two regular ones to modify it, then Jaden Korr made his out of shit in his garage, then Jacen Solo has to fish his out of a gas giant, those are three very different and interesting stories.

Kyber Crystals are for casuals who want to watch one episode of a tv show then forget about it. Actual fans can enjoy having more than one way to tell a story.

I'm going to risk sounding like an OT-only fag but in Rogue One those were AT-ACT's used for cargo transportation and not as heavily armored as the AT-AT so they could be blasted to pieces by ship cannons, they tried blasters in ESB and it didn't work
