The writing is so fucking lazy . Especially since we can see how everything is going on from the art and dialogue. The narration is mostly useless. Plus It could be so much more interesting. Have Nazi Cap narrate how he is dictating the battle. Like the invasion of Wakanda. Maybe 'A advance line of destroyer droids burn their way through the jungle from X bordering country. Once Black Panther has committed himself and his bulk against said line, a small cloaked force will rocket in, under cover of a heavy bombardment from a helicarrier. From there X Hydra operative can use their special ability to injury the Wakanda war effort by doing Y. Then we deliver our hammer blow of our forces on the enemy force here, rupturing the enemies front lines and allowing us to roll them up'. Of course dress it up a bit more.

Bascially Think like a heist movie where they explain the plan, as it appears on screen. Or for a battle version, Tyrion explains the attack on Casterly Rock, where it shows how a frontal assault would fail, but then how the hidden passage allows them to open the gates and take the defenders in the rear.

Then do that for the other battle scenes. Black Widow attack would utilize each of the Champions to allow her to get close enough to get a shot. Then a interrupt narration in a different color. Punisher War Journal entry Whatever number. "There are only so many positions a sniper can take in any given situation to ensure a safe position that allows a proper line of fire and won't be noticed. With warning, preparations can be taken against those limited positions". Then boom the whole area is covered in thick gas to ruin the sight lines. Or Blackwidow is suppressed by Frank's sniping. Or artillery fire drops on her. Just something more better then what we got.

Of course not every fight scene needs it. But then those fights, don't need narration. Just show the fight through the art we see and the dialogue.

Because that continues the early issues things. The main reason why I had some hope for this event is Hydra Cap thinking out how to neutralize his opponents. They weren't all the best plans but on the whole, the trap a bunch beyond earth, a bunch in the highest hero density area and then take apart SHEILD from the inside by splitting it over a few fronts was solid enough. But that doesn't go anywhere. Instead there is a decent Pym!Ultron issue and a bunch of tedious narration back and forth in the rest of the issues gushing over characters I don't really give a hoot about.

What bothers me is that this read like in "in the previous episode..." or like a wikipedia summary. No, better yet, a book for kids where you have a big image showing you a panorama of whats happening and then the actual stuff written in a paragraph below

'We fought and fell..." uhhh...so where is the fight? Why are you telling me what happened instead of showing me? Secret wars was also like this. It jumps and skips shit and then tells you how great the stuff you missed was.

In Metal 1, DC managed to cram a lot more of stuff than practically this whole event, and they show you the stuff. It doesnt happen offscreen.

I get the trashing Steve part, but the way he writes Falcon seems to not be one that wants him to look cool. Like every important thing he does fails and someone else fixes it, his speeches tend to fall relatively flat, and others just use him for a symbol instead of being one. Hell, in this event alone his character arc is:
>Travel with refugees across the border, given up on trying to be Captain America while other people such as the Tony Stark A.I. go around to actually solving problems and planning.
>Get convinced to reappear as Captain America mostly to convince people things are going to change to pre-Hydra.
>Continue being a supporting role for removing the shield to get the powerful space guys in, get shot out of the sky and saved by Cosmic Cube.
>Be on the battlefield but in no way show any amount of tactics on his behalf, just part of the punch things brigade.

Actually, Hydra Steve seems to come off more effective with his limitations being either existing friendships, or in this issue rushing the plan near the end goal which has potential of setting up more enemies at once.

I've really liked this event so far, but man this issue sucked.

For an event that has spent so much time criticizing "Hero vs Hero" shit in the MU, it sure does have a lot of Hero vs Hero.

And of course it ends with just an army of heroes fighting Cap in a MacGuffin powered robot suit. Fucking stupid Hollywood movie shit.
