While I didn't care about Alice being swapped, this gives me cause for concern. A lot of Daimo's character comes from the fact than since his Grandmother was a Japanese spy his family has had to go the extra mile to prove themselves in the military.

Del Toro wasn't even particularly unfaithful, he took creative liberties but there's nothing wrong with that. Kroenen was the biggest issue but he was never much more than "that ex-nazi science man" in the comics anyway

And Alice being changed is also an issue, given her nationality and the fact that she's part of the tie to the story being based on English folklore creatures getting pissed.
