That could definitely be it. I'd be surprised if Donald and Scrooge knew exactly what happened and where she is though. I expect there to be more mystery than her fate in the comics, that's all. I've been watching it and I still like it. I feel like I'm watching it for the first time even since I don't remember the specific details of any of these early episodes. The ep with Captain Courage was really good, the Armstrong ep was okay, and the episode where Scrooge and Glomgold team up to fight Ma Beagle and her boys in giant robots was the best so far. Weaker episodes were the Egypt one and the Penguin episode.

It seemed pretty clear to me from the first piece of promo art the comics were going to be main source of inspiration, although they also pay homage to the original series and apparently the video game as well (pogo cane and moon theme are supposed to be in from what I've been told).

The fact they are doing all that and apparently trying create a rebooted Disney Afternoon expanded universe is damn ambitious but from what I've seen of the pilot they might be able to pull it off.

Given that each triplet is suppose to represent an aspect of Scrooge I actually think Louie is the most interesting of the three. Louie's greed is similar to Scrooge's, but his lazyness means her uses double-talk and duplicitous action to seize opportunities rather than try to find his fortune through hard work and adventure. The possibilities of stories that are going to be about Louie learning the value of hard work and doing things square are a lot more exciting to me than teaching Duey to look before he leaps or Huey learning whatever it is he's supposed to learn.

I think he might know him. They might treat the original Darkwing Duck cartoon as happening prior to the current rebooted Ducktales and put them in the same universe, which would make sense because it seemed like Launchpad met Darkwing first in that cartoon anyway.

That would also give them a quick way to introduce Darkwing to the rest of the cast and the audience, since Launchpad can just give a quick rundown as his former sidekick.
