Cristo Canyon being Siri explains a lot of her motivations for the comic and is definitely a major character. And Howard being Adrian's father is pretty important even if he doesn't actually appear until the very end of Tome 8. Honestly, you can watch them in either order and there's pros and cons for both, as long as you watch the show before reading Tome 9 (which shouldn't be an issue for most people since Tomes 7-9 aren't even translated yet.)

Fun fact, Belmondo was also the namesake for the Belmonts in Castlevania hence why the Belmont Clan is canonically reffered as "Belmondos" in Japan and not a romanization of the Japanese etymology as many believe.
It was changed to Belmont since the translators thought it was a case of etymology seeing as they thought Simon was british.
