Also, Costa is a hack who got lucky in that the first Cobra/Chuckles was borderline readable, compared to the other shit being churned out.

As such, it was overhyped and the follow up mini basically upped the god-awful edginess with the only decent issue being the Range Viper issue, which only worked if you were familiar with how they had to neuter the concept when it first debuted.

And killing Cobra Commander basically was a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE idea for shock value that led to the God-Awful piece of shit blasphemy of Cobra Civil War IDW edition, that ended up with one of Costa's donut steel character Krake being made the new Cobra Commander.

It got so fucking bad they had to pay Larry Hama a huge payday to fucking reboot the OG comic continuity to stop the bleeding and keep ONE GI Joe comic going to keep Hasbro from yanking it AND the Transformers franchise from IDW (since Hasbro told them they had to do GI Joe or else lose TF in terms of them now being a packaged deal rights-wise).

The worst thing though? The absolute worse thing? They had a chance to do a mulligan and start from scratch with the Revolution bullshit. Reboot GI Joe from ground zero. But NOOOOO.... All they did was continue the same old shit but reworking the timeline so everything happened after All Hail Megatron.

And now you have SJW bullshit with Salvo and threatening to further SJWize the franchise because GOD FORBID they go with what works or worse, emulate the more interesting things from Call of Duty and Metal Gear Solid while ditching their bullshit "Mane 6" shit from My Little Pony that has infected all their other lines.
