I haven't been watching a lot of these episodes but I got a good laugh out of the last one. The one where Eggman's brother tries to pretend to be Sonic but everyone in town just casually knows his shit.

I watched the "Turns out Sticks's dad was The man! And everyone's racist to her for it! So the racist idiots democratically elect Eggman, who turns on the racist idiots and wants to demolish burial grounds- I mean houses to build a pipeline- I mean theme park! Only through subverting the democratic process and rendering your votes meaningless can we keep evil autocrats from taking over!" episode and hated every second of it.

Except the part where Sticks and Amy hugged, it was sweet.

The rest was godawful. And the fuck's up with this OC Sticks? If you're going to take "Actiony" characters and put them into a jungle island setting where anything can happen be it wacky or comedic, and you're going to introduce a character to fit the theme, why make your OC such a shit one? She's got the voice of Suzy Carmicheal and the personality of every cliche crazy conspiracy nut that's sometimes right ever!

I've only seen a handful of episodes and I still end up laughing at some of the things they do. Mostly out of surprise of how they went about it for a Sonic cartoon.

Then you got things like Eggman's frustration on constantly having to change his password. It's relatable and that makes it funny.

I'd say that as time went on and the writers realized that they could do anything they wanted, they started getting away with anything they wanted.

At least half of the jokes in this show are 4th wall breaks, self-depreciating humor, memes, or Sonic Fandom references.

It gets real old real fast

It's pretty repetitive, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have genuinely funny lines and excellent deliveries.

Overall fun. Can't stand watching more than two episodes in one go though.

Well to be fair: when this was just coming off the heels of the incredibly shitty game, Nobody was really hyped for the cartoon - or the comics. ESPECIALLY with all the bullshit rumours around about how it was going to replace the current Sonic design. I think the show has started to get MUCH better simply because they have sort of accepted the SONIC SPORTSTAPE and associated boom memes and ran with it. I can't really tell you which Season it starts to improve, but you can tell from the fact there is actual meme reaction images that the reception of the show has improved

Season 2 keeps getting better and better and I eagerly await every new episode because they're consistently good.

Between the reception of the games and Cartoon Network giving it a shitty timeslot and then moving it to Boomerang, there just aren't that many people who still care about this show. And I think most of the people that do care pirate it because they don't have access to Boomerang. That's probably why they started getting away with as much as they do in the current season because the higher ups aren't paying attention since nobody's even watching the show.

The one thing that I absolutely must praise Boom for is that it's the first Sonic show since Adventures of Sonic that's just a show about fucking Sonic The Hedgehog. No Freedom Fighters that get more character development than him, no shit about him and his siblings trying to find their mom, no annoying human characters, it's just a show about Sonic and his sidekicks and Eggman and fuck all the show producers in the past that thought it needed to be more than that.

I'm watching the first season right now on Netflix, and even though is weaker than season 2 it still has some great lines.

Interestingly, RoL wasn't actually a tie-in with the cartoon at first. It was the other way around. Sega actually forced BigRedButton to "synergize" with the cartoon's story at the last minute and BRB had to completely re-write the story to make it fit better with the show. It probably would have been better being its own thing, oddly enough.

And that's to say nothing of having BRB remake the whole game on a platform they didn't have experience with at the last second (I don't care how many people you throw at them to "help" with it, any developer will tell you that's simply ridiculous to do at that point in the development schedule.) which created the dumpster fire we got in the end. BRB definitely had some dumb ideas too, but Sega was absolutely the one to fuck up Rise of Lyric beyond repair.

Look up RoL's development history sometime, it's very eye opening and explains why it was so bad. For anyone who knows anything about Sega though, it'll just be business as usual.

Sonic Boom has the humor of a Youtube cartoon; it's a Youtube cartoon made with the production values and distribution of a network series. The humor comes from how bizarre it is to see that kind of humor coming from official media of something that has such subjectively low expectations because it's a fucking network Sonic cartoon.

Decent writing presented in an uncannily amusing way.

I think it's a slight exaggeration to say that half the jokes are self aware or 4th wall breaks, it's just that every thread jerks off to these particular jokes and recommends episodes with these jokes in them. I think most of the jokes are actually just weird gags and satire

Morons like to complain the Sonic series has too many characters and that's what ruins it. What they fail to see is that it's not the amount of characters, but the fact that Sega/Sonic Team do absolutely nothing with them, and when they do their gameplay is generally terrible because they're weighed down by shitty gimmicks.
