Joker's Daughter does not sell. I understand canceling Sandman Mystery Theatre because it's a m long run and even the fans of the series didn't buy it so that means a big investment on DC's part. Canceling the last volume of REBELS just seems like a spit in the face of the fans of that series, you already committed and released the first 4, you're not going to go bankrupt by releasing another volume.

The very first threat faced by the original Task Force X was a creature known as the Red Wave, a beast with the power to reduce the whole planet to ashes—and Harley Quinn’s heading right for it! But before Deadshot can warn the clown princess, his team is set upon by an army the likes of which the Squad’s never seen before. Someone is desperate to protect the secret of Task Force X, even if it means destroying Amanda Waller herself!

Look at the constant filler art due to poor planning or worse, the fact that Suicide Squad, one of the titles DC wants to pretend is a top seller still doesn't have an art team set. Or how about canceling a damn mini halfway through and lying about releasing a tpb later with the whole thing finished. Or look at how there's zero synergy across the line with the New Gods.

I read it because i like Supergirl, but overall it's just absolute garbage. Fortunately it comes out alongside RHATO so it balances out.

Read Supergirl, then read RHATO to wash the bad taste out of my mouth.

IMAGINARY FIENDS #1
Written by TIM SEELEY
Art by STEPHEN MOLNAR
Cover by RICHARD PACE
“Polly Peachpit.” Those were the words ten-year-old Brinke Calle said when she was found covered in her own blood by the woods in rural Cannon Falls, MN. Her best friend, Melba, had just attempted to murder her because a spider girl named Polly Peachpit told her to.
Since that day, Melba has spent seven years in a mental health facility. Tomorrow is her eighteenth birthday. Tomorrow, she’ll be transferred to a federal prison. Tomorrow, her real sentence will begin.
That is, until she receives a visit from FBI Agent Virgil Crockett. Crockett explains that there is another world beyond ours, where hungry spectral aliens stalk the minds of the impressionable and weak. These things, called IMPs (Interdimensional Mental Parasites) feed on compliance. They convince hosts to do things for them, and the more they feed, the stronger they become. More IMPs stream into the world each day, invisible to everyone but his or her hosts.
After years of drugs and counseling, Polly and Melba have developed a unique relationship—and to Crockett, this relationship represents something her people can work with. In exchange for release from prison, Crockett asks Melba (and Polly) to serve as IMP hunters. For Melba, it’s a chance to prove that she’s innocent, convinced to murder by a monster...a monster she must now unleash.

A surprising turn by an unexpected hero in issue nine will seemingly resolve that intractable problem from the previous four issues which came to a head in issue eight. Issue ten will feature fan service and probably Hal's and Barry's secret marriage will be disclosed (WHAT A TWIST).

Issue eleven features Batman getting ass blasted because Amanda Waller turned out to be the one who planted the button in his cave. Issue twelve will set up the next event, starring STAR GIRL - featuring four other lesser Johns inventions he can force into adaption for the live action sequel to Batman vs. Cyborg - Electric Boogaloo, starring Dick Grayson as Batman.

I haven't read anything Wildstorm before it either. It's a pretty enjoyable read monthly, and I get the feel that it'd be even better all at once. I also like seeing people explain the references to the original and speculation about how it'll go in the storytime threads here.

ignore this a-hole >>94816438

It honestly is.

It's really entertaining and clever. My foreign relatives on my dad's size really loved the cartoon and it's still broadcast in prime time, in nice clean remasters (although dubbed and since I don't know the language the way I did when I was a kid ...) so I had no clue, no reference, nor do I feel this is either raping or praising my childhood, but I found the first trade very enjoyable and plan to get the next one.

It's not political at all, it's more contemporary in a way (see pic related).

I don't hate Jurgen's the way a lot of people do - I just find some of his writing to be pretty predictable. It's pretty clear he hasn't really read many of the DC books since he was working regularly on Superman - Arrival was a world unto itself and characters like Blanque are proof positive that he can't really come up with any imagination.

I'm sure some of the problems I have with Action are related to Berganza and the Superman Editorial's office hard-on for certain types of action and stories - Revenge is a perfect example of something that I think was more of a mandate from them than say a Jurgen's idea. But if Tomasi and Gleason can fight off most of that nonsense and be more creative in the way they rethread someone (e.g. Black, for example), then if Jurgen's was really a good superstar, he'd be able to manage it as well.

Actually, I think the stuff he draws (that Tomasi writes) like Planet of the Capes is great - plus I really like the way he draws Clark and Lois at home.

I've no interest in kids and I have no clue how people are finding thin 10 year olds or 13 year old midgets anything to get off on.

AND I've been disappointed with some of the people (other than Gleason) who have been drawing Superman or Super Sons when Jimenez has not been the main artist.

>Revenge is a perfect example of something that I think was more of a mandate from them than say a Jurgen's idea.
It was his idea. He said so on Twitter. Honestly what's the problem with Blanque? I think he's decent, he's not another super strong dude who just wants to punch things. They've been trying to give Supes a Joker for a long time, I think Blanque fits the role decently enough.

I don't follow anyone's twitter. If there's not an interview I've read for some reason or a mention in an article, I'm totally unaware of it. And Jurgen's interviews are tedious dull. I read almost all the interviews he did for Convergence and Arrival, because I was really excited about both ideas, and I just can't imagine being the reporter (which is what my degree is in even if I've never worked as one).

I don't read solo Batman, so the joker to me never feels as much of a no-rationale killer for no real reason. I guess my impression is more based from the various Batman movies and tv animated series, including the ones people don't like as much like the Rasta Joker, but he always struck me as having definite profit motives or revenge motives or other motivations.

I agree with you on not having say another Mongul or Lobo, but I'd rather see a Sivana level mad scientist type, without the funding that Lex has, so say he's more desperate and cutting more corners due to resources, experimenting on himself or others, etc.

Jurgen's isn't awful. And he knows what he can do and doesn't try to punch up like Johns, but he's as predictable as say Williamson and leaves as many dangling plot threads as Snyder left in Unchained and apparently does in his Batbooks, and Johns leaves all over the DC universe. I just find him unimaginative and uninspired.

I forget her name but the female looking for the space "gem" that was introduced in Arrival and hasn't really yet been followed up even with Henshaw being in Revenge, is another example of a poorly thought out, uninspired, rote character, for example -- and I do think Superman can also use some good female adversaries - villains.
