I've found his recent work for recent seasons of the show to be very underwhelming.

He seems to have picked up a nasty habit of making generic, formulaic-sounding pop songs. I don't know what it is about them, but that's the only way I can describe them, "formulaic"...they sound like every other top-40 pop song playing on the radio.

People accuse LPS(2012) of being a ripoff of MLP(2010), but it's really not. LPS had its own cartoon back in the 90s, and the toy line has always been similar to MLP's, with rainbow-colored animals.

For 2D to really come back, we not only need successful 2D films but for several high profile 3D films to bomb at the box office. Because the music started going downhill in S4, and with S5 and beyond, it has just been very mediocre

I think the horse movie is more likely to be financially successful than be loved by its fans due to the nature of how many celebrities Hasbro wanted to pack into it. Scrapped concept art of cool environments just gives off that weird feeling, especially with how the trailer feels.

Whether that gives a resurgence to 2d films is another thing entirely. For it to be enjoyable, successful AND influential is a lot to ask for.
