Actually, the cartoon was pitched first. Then Sega decided to make a tie-in video game, to maximize exposure and appeal to westerners. And we know how well that went.

The reason season 2 turned into a parody is because the writers are aware of how badly the network is treating the show and how much of a bad reputation the Boom brand has gotten due to the video game, so they decided to just have fun with it.

There are, one just came out. Based around the amount in season one, we're due for about another 11 before the season's end. I don't think anyone's actually outright said the show is done after that, but it's not really something to feel hopeful about. The team is moving on to another show and Sonic Boom did get moved to Boomerang. Even the Netflix option seems unlikely, given both the increasing amount of places that want to run their own streaming and Netflix themselves putting more of a focus on their original content.

That said, it's apparently popular enough to have gotten a second season, even considering it was shuffled away after that. It's more of an overseas sort of thing, I imagine. I do wonder what Sega's intentions are hear. Sonic Boom is largely verboten game-wise now. Supposedly original stuff from it aside from Sticks being unusable along side their many other restrictions on licensed content creation. They seem pleased enough with it as a cartoon property, given how it's turned out with two seasons and them using it to offload a game to finish off their Nintendo contract. Guess we'll see. For now we've got a good fifth of the season left before it's over one way or another.

If Boom is indeed canned, it will be short 286 minutes, or 26 episodes from being the longest running western made Sonic cartoon, behind the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. It has more episodes but runs half of the time. (11 minutes vs 22) No real reason to bring it up, I though maybe it would bring me some closure to know it had a good run.

Sticks is alright because she was a Sega creation, but the other stuff has apparently entered the list of "shit you're not allowed to do" when it comes to how other people handle the property. Presumably, the people at Archie Sonic or the other spin-off studios have mentioned this, as they have in the past with stuff like "Sonic/Amy can't have an explicit romance" or "no major character development with our express say so." I'm not as up on this as others are, though.

Don't think so, though I confess I don't really know why you ask. I worded my other post poorly. I was just listing off contradictions between Sega's apparent regard for the show and walling off of the games. Supposedly the show impressed them enough to redirect the game's development. However, they were also looking to unload something quick to end their three game exclusive contract with the WiiU, which is the origin of its many problems. So I was just wondering whether Sega would themselves put any effort towards keeping the show going, such as shopping around for a new host and such. They're a pretty bizarre company, historically. A lot of left and right hands slapping each other, especially between Japan and US divisions. I'd heard they'd gotten a new, relatively younger CEO recently. And the mere existence of Mania seems like a point towards them settling down a bit on the whole "fucking themselves over" thing.

For reference, the show and the games have very little in common besides the tone, characters, and setting. They might as well be different continuities, for how much they actually reference each other. I think the second 3DS game, produced after the joint release of the original 3DS game and the WiiU game, has the same disregard for the existence of the originals as the show and first games do. The games are supposed to lead into the show, but you'd never really know it.

I was wondering myself if they considered her too ancillary to be put alongside the others. She's also widely different from Marine, though to counteract that we also have Boom Knuckles and Amy. Knuckles, especially. There's the strong thing, but taken in a wildly different direction from the norm, where it was only a part of his character. Amy's just more toned down, though distinct enough.

Since she came from SoJ on high, I doubt the Boom guys were primarily responsible, though they probably fleshed out her character. Maybe they did want someone new and asked SoJ about it? Personally, I just think they like making new characters. Even after the backlash towards it near the end of the Adventure/Heroes era, they're typically sticking someone new in there somewhere, though around Colors they really pulled back on that.

Far as I can tell, it's not actually missing anything that's aired. It's just that episodes are aired, sometimes wildly, out of production order, and the guy maintaining the doc keeps them in production order. For instance, 226 STILL hasn't shown up anywhere, despite the latest one being 243. In fact, next week's is supposed to be 231. Probably the channel decides which ones to air in what order, given what they think they need to space out for interest and the low level of direct continuity in most episodes.

I just liked how smug he sounded. It was basically a perfect foil to Sonic's "I'M 2COOL4SKOOL" attitude and it even got under Sonic's skin in that infamous cutscene. One also has to consider Shadow's role as of late too.

Ever since the last switch of VAs, Shadow has been having extremely minimal roles in games and very few lines.

As such, there isn't much direction on Shadow because he barely gets any lines. So 100% performance is not gonna be given when, for example in generations, all you gotta say is "You got this Sonic!" for 2 seconds of a cutscene.
