What does /co/ think of the recent Lion King revelations?

Half siblings still share the same parent though, so it doesn't make it any less incestuous.
But I never thought Scar was Kovu's dad. He just seemed like he wouldn't or couldn't or wouldn't have kids.
The thing about him and Mufasa not having the same mom probably goes more into Scar not taking the throne I think. Despite being the first to a new wife he's still second to Mufasa, or something?

Confirmed for never watching actual lion documentaries. Packs of bachelor males (siblings hang out together sometimes) develop for better chances at hunting and survival.
If they wanted animal underpinnings they should have gone with the angle they were brothers booted from their old pride when they developed into adults to 'find their own pride'. Mufasa was strong but not smart initially and Scar was smart but had shit endurance and strength. They worked together to survive and massacred the old king of pride rock. Eventually, if a pride is too small, the stronger lion will eventually force the other male out after dominion is solidified. Hell in the original animated movie they even establish that Mufasa and Zazu think Scar is kind of a rude useless sack, so given Scar is the sneaky thinker he draws the conclusion that Mufasa will inevitably squeeze him out and leave him to languish or die in the wild. Boom, instant Mufasa kill motive and you don't lose the Hamlet aspect about them being brothers. Scar ends up slightly sympathetic because he was half the reason Mufasa and him won Pride Rock but vile because Mufasa made no motion (yet) to evict his brother before Scar decided to strike first.

Scar has always been sympathetic, though. They had to brand him with Nazi imagery and darker fur to drive home the point that he's supposed to be evil because his story, taken on their merits, is actually kind of tragic.

Then they gave him the thing about how he was always evil, and killed the previous Lion Guard he lead because they refused to help him kill Mufasa, which makes no goddamn sense because otherwise, why is he even still in the Pridelands? Unless Mufasa really is that thick. But you'd think he'd banish him after that came to light.

I really like this a lot. Of course making the hero dumb and strong wasn't a good look, even back then. He needed to be wise and noble. Not a lunk. Imagine a flashback where Scar and Mufasa are actually getting along, fighting a far worse asshole. Scar smart and sneaky, Mufasa straightforward and strong. That's like some norse mythology shit.
