I honestly wish Sinestro spent more time as a GL before his inevitable "fall from grace" arc. Especially for the sake of extra moments of overt foreshadowing, like pic related.

It didn't. His predecessor chose him to defeat a threat coming due to being injured much the same way Arkkis Chummuck was chosen. When he wanted it back, Sinestro killed him and then the Guardians show up going "Gee wiz, it's time for you to train I guess"
