Good evening owls,

I love this comic so much.

I think James-Michael is kind of like taking Ditko's version of Peter Parker to the next level. Except I guess James-Michael isn't as douchey.

You're learning to master the sigil in reverse, Dave. That's like 12th level magyck.

>>94723198
This at least feels like it's one of their attempts at an evergreen trade, so the writing might be more co-ordinated.

Dave pls say we'll definitely get Hickman LOSH so it won't actually happen

Mystik U is the stupidest fucking name I've ever seen for a Big Two series lately.
>>
>>94723198
I want like fucking weird Mystik U with obscure oddball characters but I'm a realist and understand that would sell even less than this will. It all sounds a bit Harry Potter but if it manages to sustain like a Gotham Academy level of quality then it'll likely be a pleasant enough book.

I love the philosophical and hippie shit they were getting away with in the mid 70's. Gerber, Starlin, Englehart, McGregor, they were literally just dropping LSD and roaming around nighttime NYC pitching story ideas back and forth, or sitting the stairwells smoking pot.

>>94723172
>Well we finally got Mystik U after 2 years
Sounds pretty lame tbqh. Would've preferred Zatanna as a teacher with Klarion, Tim Hunter, Jakeem Thunder, Misty etc as students. maybe I'm just salty because that Klarion mini didn't just get shitcaned at 6 but had a "The End?" at the end and then didn't even get collected in trade. Fucking DC.
>>
>>94723300
That was basically just Justice League Dark IIRC so it'll happen when the movie happens

Definitely. I find myself loving it more than his usual """mysterious""" angle despite the fact that I'm a long time Phantom Stranger fan. Loved Zauriel in it too. Blanco has looked good with every colorist he's worked so far but Brad Anderson+Blanco was my favorite so far.

Because that's actually representative of women in power for this generation? They probably did it to make her hot but that's how the upper management women in corporate world look like. Waller was counter hegemonic to the male predominant hierarchy of corporate/political system in 80s and I do stand by DC's choice to make Waller a supermodel when they rebooted.

I'm not saying it was written well, just that I can see how it could've resonated with the audience if they played it right.

I think the clear reflection of how Waller operated earlier in the new 52 resembles Maria Hill which I think was the clear inspiration and writing was never good, I won't deny that. But there had to have been a single editor that thought what I'm thinking when I see new 52 Waller. I think it is a very good justification as well. It didn't work out which is a shame.

Yeah, when she was conceptualized in the 80s, she had to be old, her being old told a tale in and of itself. New Waller didn't have to be.

From my secret contacts within Tumblr by which I mean "acquaintances who use Tumblr" the social justice cult there hates Harley and people who call her feminist, too.

There's a myth that Tumblr just loves all this stupid shit but they hate literally everything just like /co/. It's the same kind of "I'm better than you because I don't like popular thing" mentality as here, just a race to be more woke than everyone else instead of more elitist.

My favorite part about the more unhinged Spencer critics is that at least one of them stans for Kylo Ren and Phasma

>Except I guess James-Michael isn't as douchey.

Helps to not be created by a Randroid I guess.
Man... how was Norman Osborn, a brilliant selfmade industrialist, even a villain to Ditko?
>>
>>94723142
The farther we get into this, the more baffling it is that Marvel ever tried to revive the character.

It's so Gerber. The only use of it that makes sense is having Simon Williams play him in the movie version. ... Which, thinking of it, would probably reconcile /d/lectro with Electro.

I think when it comes to tumblr, there's diversity. You definitely have normal users, then the stereotype audience and the shitposters as well. People only think of the stereotypes when they think of tumblr. Kind of how all of 4chan is grouped with the /pol/ and GG audience.
>>
>>94724122
Him being a villain was the final straw that made Ditko quit, actually. Before that Norman was a barely seen character and the relationship between him and Harry had been brought up in passing a few times, didn't start to really explore it until the first John Romita issue after Ditko left, where the Norman Osborn reveal also was.

Ditko wanted Peter to be even MORE of an asshole and actively get upset about campus protests and other things his fellow youths were doing, Lee didn't want to alienate their customer base and would rewrite his dialogue behind his back.
>>
>>94724119
But Phasma is a lady wearing armor so obviously she's awesome!

I know what you mean, that last issue felt like it was written in the last two days.
It sucks to see how everyone seems to be doing so much worse a decade into the future.

Not hot women, but women of 30 or 40 do come in power position easier today and seen often then 20 years ago. I know that because I've dealt with that shit, you wouldn't know because you are a fucking 20 year faggot who has no sense of reality or worse, a faggot who has never worked a job in his life.

Phasma was fucking useless though. If lady in armor=awesome, go play a Metroid game.

... In fact, specifically play Other M, then you'll have something legitimately awful to bitch about. About seven years of rage, in fact.

One of the more enjoyable use of both Hydra and the von Struckers was in some early nineties comics where the twins feuded with their brother Werner over which branch of Hydra is the true one.

Did the same a few months back and really fell in love with the depiction because how much you could sense it was Ditko channeling his own feelings and life into it.

It's a big part of the reason I recommended Omega. I don't know if James-Michael is supposed to reflect Gerber at all but I've always been fascinated with intellectual loner types. I even see a little bit of myself as a kid in that, though not nearly to the extent of either character.

>>94724343
I've wanted an "All-Star Spider-Man" type of comic that goes back to that original version of Spider-Man and extrapolates him with more of the things Ditko did later on. I think I heard Morrison made a pitch like that.

>>94724384
He was just starting to get into that stuff when he was writing Spider-Man, literally reading Atlas Shrugged in the middle of his run.
This character
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Looter_(comics)
is a reference to a concept from the book.
>>
>>94724417
Because Wilson is a pretty good writer and the original premise was closer to an elseworld whereas the replacement writer and next premise was not

Also CW2 affected the title like 7 issues in
>>
>>94724416
Ditko pretty much made every character some aspect of his own self if Charlton is to go by. It's better that he wasn't given much control on Spidey and fucked off when he felt that way.

How the fuck does this guy expect to be taken seriously with an army of stray cats? This is legitimately getting more JoJo by the issue: some ridiculous national stereotype is using an even more ridiculous power to attack the extravagantly muscled (and noted as so by the other characters) hero, only to be defeated by a trick from an elderly gimp.

If that's your complain then you're a retard. Every fucking character, even bystanders are drawn most exquisitely in comics. Do you complain that every hero and heroine are super hot as well?
>Now fuck off with your delusional fantasies.
Says the faggot that's never worked a job in his life.
>>
>>94724592
I think it's doing fine so far. It's following three plot-lines right now, and none have intersected yet. The art is still good.
The surviving characters from the first series have not exactly had a good time since the end of the last one, so there is heavy mood whiplash if you recently read the first one.

If you don't want any politics in your comics, then avoid it.
>>
>>94724013

She's a civil servant. What's more, one that clawed her way to power after her children died.
