Okay, I don't disagree with your opinion entirely. Truth be told, some of the Bayformers movies are fun. The first one and Age Of Extinction were definitely worth my watching, even if they deviated from the source material as adaptations are wont to do. That's not the issue. I just have to say that telling someone that they need to turn off their brain to enjoy something is a bit nuts. If they don't enjoy it, they don't enjoy it. There's no convincing them.
That aside, I'm interested in this G1 reboot as well. This is the first I've heard of it, so I'm cautiously optimistic for the time being.

Got a few questions for anyone who knows a lot about the transformers comics and characters.

A thread yesterday made me want to read the Transformers Wiki pages. My favorite character as a kid was Prowl so I read his and WOW I did not expect what I found. So lore wise in the end the beans were spilled of him ends justifying the means for millennia no matter who he screwed over and everyone (understandably) hated him for it. Did he ever have any actual friends through the series because it doesn't seem like he respected anyone and no one respected him back? But what I don't get is if he was right about anything in the end or did everything he plan on just cause everything to go worse or do nothing? Usually in comics those characters do end up being at least semi right, but it seems nothing Prowl had done ended up helping. The only thing I read that would have guaranteed help in any way was executing the Decepticons post war, lots of headaches could have been avoided. He is supposedly the most lonely person in existence so why does he act like pic related right after he was the left side of pic?

I just don't get it. I really want to start reading but Prowl was always my favorite as a kid, but seeing him depicted as just a dick who in the end is total loser and never did anything to help even though he had to make the tough calls doesn't sit well with me. But the way he is depicted as well as acts at the end of the wiki article makes me think the writing of his character is a bit inconsistent too.

But like I said I know jack shit and would like to learn. Also, I don't know if the wiki is up to date so past what it says at the end where he is taking a sabbatical has anything else happened that has involved him? After reading the whole thing I just want to give him a hug, he's just got to be a broken man at this point. Just wanting to keep the peace and in the end has nothing. I don't remember any of this kind of elements to the Prowl I watched as a kid.

Many of Prowl's plans have helped out one way or another.

For instance his plans when fighting against the Earth Defense something-or-other and Blackrock Garrison (when he thought he was a human) ended up working, though they did involve a bunch of deception that may not have been necessary.

Microverse is a bit too fast in some ways. When I first started it seemed as though they were referencing the Marvel run (which I know nothing about) with how some stuff was poorly explained, but turns out it wasn't.

The only real change to Optimus Prime is that two or three GI Joes have joined the cast, including Marissa's dad Flint. It's mostly been focused on Optimus ensuring that weapons that can harm cybertronians aren't out on the black market, and dealing with the Junkions. He also wants Earth to properly join the Council of Worlds for its protection.

Optimus does appear elsewhere but it's not really referenced in the main series.

You are not required to read the other titles to understand the comics of Transformers. The GI Joe are just showing up in place of the generic military organization that would appear anyway in the comic, meaning even without them it would not change almost anything in the comic, they are just in the role of Skywatch or EDC. The GI Joe members who are currently appearing in the comic would actually still be the same, as most of the GI Joe members who are appearing were members of EDC and were already appearing in the comic, except for two members who are new and one of them is Marissa's father.

That would be difficult. Here's an explanation that I found in tfw2005:

AFAIK, the Sunrise/Takara ownership of Brave works like this: Sunrise/Bandai are the sole controlling party when it comes to the fiction and character likenesses, and are thus allowed to do whatever they damned well please with it.

However, Takara (now TakaraTomy) was allowed to retain ownership of all the original toys that they produced in their partnership with Sunrise. So any reproductions of the original toys must come through TT, but only with permission/solicitation from Bandai. TT was also apparently granted a sub-license to produce their Kabaya candy kit versions of the characters more recently.

But all indications say that right of first refusal goes through Bandai, and not TT, and thus it's incredibly unlikely that any deals could be worked out.

Spotliight Mirage was always part of the main timeline, there was nothing in it that ever prevented it from being there. "It was a dream" stories still have the part where the character wakes up in the real world.

As for Hearts of Steel, it was just duplicate events that happened in main IDW. HoS proper is still a seperate universe.

IDW Beast Wars uses the cartoon events (again, duplicate events happening in another universe) as a basis for its plot, so it can't be slotted into main IDW.

Is the show really that good? The first episode alone was cringy af to watch thanks to the horrid animation, and frankly the dialogue wasn't all that convincing either.

Seems like a good deal even though I don't give a fuck about GI Joe, the physical volumes of those IDW Collection books are expensive as fuck, you couldn't buy one of those for $25 let alone 12.

I love the character designs, I love the voice acting and the general aesthetics of Prime (even if it does look a bit cheap at times) but I feel like the plots let it down. There are some great eps, but there's so much filler and nothing episodes.
