I said "consistent", not good/bad.

In my experience, the writing quality stayed the same throughout all 4 seasons of LPS. I could not tell a S4 episode from a S1 episode.

the horse show on the other hand, constantly shifted writers/story editors/directors/producers around, and the writing quality was all over the place between each season.

Man, this show's continuity is really underrated, the way they reference past events and have things that happened once become a new part of the character, it's just astounding
Case in point: vinnie's tail, they could have made it a one-off thing and leave it at that, but they went that extra mile and actually had him occasionally lose his tail when scared/when falling.
Or in the Spider episode when Vinnie talks to the spider about Sunil and he references past episodes, I never see it happening normally in episodic cartoons.

They're both slice of life shows based around technicolor talking animals. Two of which share similar designs.

And by "fanservice" I mean putting references to fandom things in the show. The horse show has gone so far off the deep end with this thing that they've literally taken completely fan-made things and put them in the show. LPS didn't do any of that....mostly because there was no fandom to begin with.

Yeah they have SOME similarities but they're still not "the same" in my opinion, for example I was initially interested in MLP because of the fantasy aspect and adventure themes presented, something LPS lacks (and why I didn't like it when it first premiered, but grew to love it after giving it a proper chance). In MLP the main characters are sort of treated as the heroes of their universe, in the first two episodes they save their land from an evil villain who wants to conquer them all, the biggest problem to face in LPS is bratty high school girls, the shows do have similarities but ultimately are very different shows

This is a bad thing why? In what way do things like Derpy or Vinyl having elements of their character taken from the fandom effect anything in a negative way? As far as I'm concerned, most of the time its totally harmless/doesn't effect the main story arcs in any way and is something in the background/extremely minor, it's just a nod to the fans and I see nothing wrong with that. It would be a problem if they made an episode based on Cupcakes or some shit, but that is not the case.
