Not him but it was a bit of an issue for Sally to have most of her family and previous character development wiped out by the Pendering. Penders created her mom and brother, with Alexis having taken over as king some time before Flynn came on board. The fact that Sally had to deal with the idea that maybe she wasn't destined to be the political leader of the restored house of Acorn was a genuinely interesting idea (even if Bollers and Penders of course executed it in a kinda shit way). There was a distinct nuance to having Sally as the tough, practical freedom fighter while Alexis, Alicia and to some degree Maximilian represented other ideals. Of course when naugus took over Alexis got the Secret Freedom Fighters together instead and became much more hands-on, but that was also wiped out by the Pendering.

After the reboot Sally just didn't have much left. She was back to roughly the point she was before they discovered Alexis existed, but in a much nicer and more clean universe than the previous once, which didn't allow her much room to grow.

Also, and I hate to say this, I think Nigel (the Reboot king acorn) not being kind of a jerk or at least irrational lead to him being a mostly dull character to have around, since he barely had any good character hooks to him.

If you take Ian's entire run, he doesn't change. Antoine's development, which aside from The Map is mostly off camera, came in early. From about issue...I'd say 75 to 290 he is the same shit. Rarely does anything, occasionally gets a callback to being skittish, fights something sometimes, dotes on Bunnie. Aside from Tails' Adventure that's pretty much fucking it. He was terribly utilized overall and implying his character changed post-reboot when the only thing he did from 200 to 247 was getting fucking rekt is ludicrous.

Honestly I woundn't mind if they kept the Freedom Fighters and the SatAM/AoStH mythos, only if IDW stopped make the comic canon so focused on them.
They're better off as C-listers in the Sonic universe.
Hope they focus on the classic four line-up ( Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy ) more than anything.
Probably would go the extra mile and retcon Sonic and Tails as only honorary members of the FF and not full-time members. Like, retcon the hole SatAM as one tiny adventure/spin-off game:

I think a lot of whether they'll use the freedom fighters or not depends on how they portray eggman himself because the freedom fighter were effectively an organize that sought to rebel against the tyranny of Dr egg man's rule over the world if Eggman doesn't have that kind of ruling power in the IDW comic then the Freedom fighters won't be needed much if at all, at least this is my take on it.
