Was this episode really banned?

Now that you mention it I can't remember if they ever reran this one. It was pretty forgettable.

Depends on what you mean by banned. It was shown once, but never again in reruns. Even the writers admit it's a terrible episode that they only wrote to fulfill an education requirement. There's a reason it's so heavy handed and dumb.
Not to stereotype too much, but most screenerwriters probably drink more than they should.

Now that you mention it, not /co/ related, but I recall an episode of Boy Meets World where they go underage drinking, but I don't recall ever seeing it more than the one time.
Until The Hub got the show, yes.

Never saw it so probably. There is also no real reason to show it. Alcohol isn't a big problem among kids today.
Would just one beer really cause that much trouble?
I doubt it.

I only remember seeing it once on tv.

Eh if you were actually a child and it was a strong beer it could probably mess you up pretty bad.
I remember seeing the episode a few times as a kid. It's probably a case like the Talespin episode, where it was only removed from rotation in certain areas.

I remember seeing that episode a few years back, wasn't that bad if I remember correctly.

I remember seeing it on CN Latin America during the late 90s.
