It's a typical problem with sister shows: the original show (in this case, Adventure Time) is a group effort, but the creator is the biggest name. The creator starts another project without the other writers, and sure enough you realize that they're not as talented as you originally thought. Often, the creator just can't think outside the box and ends up trying to retread what had been previously established.

For example: the Cleveland Show and Family Guy. I don't have to explain that beyond the fact that Seth Macfarlane knows only how to parody the nuclear family sitcom, which has been done to death already.

American Dad turned out surprisingly good due to other writers stepping in and influencing it heavily, but try watching the first episode that was mostly Seth: it had fucking cutaways. It was just gonna be more of the same shit.

Pen is just not an important enough name in Adventure Time, despite being the creator. He's kind of like Matt Groening, in that sense. He has a niche that he can't get out of, so everything he makes is just Adventure Time with different characters.

I don't think Pendleton Ward had a fucking thing to do with BW other than having his name slapped on the title. He made the pilot years before, then that guy that made Dr. Tran led the show's actual development. Pen's name was just attached to attract AT fans.

welp. I can't remember what's happened this season since they decided to only release their episodes on some shitty ass pay to watch app that nobody wanted to install.

I actually didn't most of the episodes of BW. It was never really a great show, though.
