Eh, I'd say that Avatar's kind of like a less dramatic version of that graph. Season 1 was great, 2 was fantastic, and 3 was good but not as good as seasons 1 or 2.

Korra was weird and I'd say does not fit that graph. S1 was good, S2 was terrible except the great origin story, and S3 and S4 were exceptional.

I think season 1 was simple but good, but showed it was something more g after "The Storm", leading into a nice bunch of episodes and then a good finale. Season 2 was near perfect throughout for me, and most fans seem to agree with me on that, but I don't get the hate for season 3. I really never saw anything distinctly wrong with it. Sure, the first ten or so episodes are just building character and waiting for the invasion, but the last ten were just so memorable for me, and I can't really see much wrong with them, especially considered how amazing the finale was.

Those first ten episodes just kind of felt meandering to me. I'm not gonna use hyperbole and claim that season three was terrible like many anons do, but it was definitely weaker than 2 and in my eyes the fact that it took so long to get rolling makes it weaker than season 1, which justifiably needed some buildup because it was, well, the first season. Honestly they're very close in my mind though, and I do think that it's looked down upon too harshly, probably due to people coming down from season 2 and expecting it to match that season in quality.

I liked that show as a kid so much. Back when movie stores and block-busters existed, I found a dvd copy of the first five eps as a stand-alone movie. I thought it was just another disney movie with no tv series afterward. Imagine my luck years later finding out there's over 60 more episode available to watch online. I think that many of those ten episodes were well-written, but that didn't advance the plot in any meaningful way. I mean, you could still enjoy them, I'm sure many anons did, as character driven moments, but with the tension from season two being tossed aside, meant it pissed everyone off, and rightfully so. I think a lot of those episodes could have been scrapped from the main story and made into a collection of 'lost adventures', or episodes which lack plot advancement in favour of seeing our favourite characters interact one last time on screen before they all die for Korra to exist

Season three is considered the last season of the golden age, which ended with the movie. They wanted to end Spongebob with the movie but Nick wanted more, so most of the original staff left and was replaced with a new one. Season 4 feels and looks very different and is notably less funny, while season 5 is the point of no return where they stopped even trying to feel like seasons 1-3. There's still some good episodes but it's mostly garbage and obviously made to cater to a younger audience instead of the whole family like Spongebob originally was.
