People suggesting Starro for the movie is one of my pet peeves.

The JLA's first villain encounter wasn't Starro, it was the Appelaxians. Starro was who they fought in their first appearance, but the JLA's origin wasn't established until Justice League of America #9, where it showed them coming together to defeat the Appelaxians.
