It's less that it's ground up beetles and more that it's shoved into most processed foods in a hush hush way.
Rather than say "This food contains insects" on the packaging, they say "This food contains food dye".
Which is kind of a dick move to a lot of people. You have some who can't eat insects for religious reasons, some who can't eat it from a moral standpoint because they're vegetarian or vegan or some other shitty dietary choice that makes them insufferable to be around...
And then you just have the people who find the idea of chowing down on literal bug juice disgusting. It's understandable why you'd be down for it, but you should also understand why other people wouldn't be down for it.

Cockroaches for example are high in protein and super good for you when prepared right and even kind of tasty, but it's still a massive dick move to trick people into eating a cockroach without making it clear beforehand that they're eating a cockroach.
Same applies to beetles.

This hasn't been true since forever.

Almost all wood has vanillin in it, same as the vanilla bean, and that's where "artificial" vanilla comes from for the majority of vanilla tasting products.
Apparently, a lot of artificial vanilla came from paper makers, where the pulping processing waste created a lot of this stuff.

Now they just use other wood sources.

So it's basically like saying caviar isn't caviar because it doesn't come from Caspian Sea or how Parmessan Cheese isn't parmessan because it doesn't come from Parma.

Exactly if that truly is a religious thing they'd clearly do their homework and prep their own food or go to an establishment of their religion that does it for them. The only real issue here would be if someone was allergic to it which then once again that person would find out at some point and they themselves would be cautious about what they intake. I myself am allergic to shellfish. So I check everything especially when its seafood related. Or when I take doctor visits cause there is a dye used in medicine that is created from shellfish or some shit like that.

Apparently both of them are addictive as fuck. I'm more of a finger food snacker than a soda drinker, so I'd probably go for Popplers. This is without using the insider knowledge of the episodes in question. If I were just an average person before news of where either products came from.

That being said, I still eat hotdogs knowing what they are made from, I still drink milk even though there is what is considered an "acceptable amount of blood and pus" in it, and I still eat peanut butter knowing that there is what is considered an "acceptable amount of rat feces" in them.

And I just ruined two food products for at least one person. :D
