The show can be good but never great and honestly it never will be great because the show never aims to be great. It's happy churning out formulaic episodes with plots you've seen a thousand times in other shows.

As someone who doesn't give a fuck about waifus, it's a pretty hit or miss show. The best episodes are the ones that have all of the siblings playing off of each other and getting into ridiculous situations. But too many episodes have boring plots centered around Lincoln with everyone else in the background. It's like the writers can't decide whether they want the show te be about a big family, or just a buddy comedy starring Lincoln and his friends. Remember, LH went from Bunnies to Peanuts to a animated version of Cheaper by the Dozen before... Becoming whatever in the hell this thing is. Then to make things even worse three to four different teams worked on this thing, making LH feel very schizophrenic.

It experiments with a formula for real little kids, but the characters are too old and... Well, dickish. It tries to be Peanuts or Hey Arnold, but you don't want to see any of the 'friends' in the first place (the ugly gingers), or are just plain unlikable (the lil' nig, Ronnie del Taco el illegal). Then it tries to be a family thing, but the sisters are all one note characters and the family acts like Daddy 0 Five or the damn Lannisters. Then when it isn't stumbling through it's past concepts, trying to find a identity, it's clearly a harem show that swiftly makes sure every character is as generic as possible for the bearded audience.

Every time I watch it, I just know the team could easily fix it by choosing one of the three prompts and just building off it. But they won't. They know they're animating for burned out neckbeards scared of change, not children, and any attempt to make LH something enjoyable will just end in a internet shitstorm. It's not a fun show to write for so why bother? Just let Savino turn it into harem, let Sullivan troll everyone by letting everyone know Lynn/Lucy/fuck Lynn Sr.'s "big secret", fill out your resume, get out.

what did you do when the gimmick of this show (the sisters) got boring?

I started to take interest in the side characters, Linc's friends, the parents, the school kid and teachers, the santiagos and casagrandes. my favorite of all of them was Ronnie Anne but she left, now I just check for new episodes but don't even discuss them.

the last batch was terrible except for change of heart which had amazing character development for Lori, Clyde and Leni since we learn new stuff about them.

I moved on. There's just not enough to LH to keep it going, to be honest. The sisters never grow, or if they do it's rarely permanent and they always end up maintaining the status quo. I get that it's a harem kind of thing where you need to avoid any complex characterization, but that does not help the show. Lincoln himself is a fairly stale protagonist who needs something... Anything to let him stand out as a character.

The same goes for Clyde, Ronnie, Lincoln's shite friends. All three of which are quite possibly the biggest wastes of space I've ever seen. One note characters appear all the time who immediately steal the show, displaying the weakness of the cast for all to see. Hell, random people in the background are more interesting than the Louds themselves-partly due to the writers overusing Clyde.

I'd be down with the writers doing what Gumball did and explore the lives of the myriad of classmates or even slime balls like Chandler just to inject some life into this stale 'toon. But they won't. Why? Because LH wouldn't be harem anymore, and it'd lose it's primary fanbase.
