I personally found Korra incredibly likable as a person. Though I think the show was poorly written, and a lot of other characters were incredibly boring, and even Korra is legitimately a mary sue in regards to her abilities.

Making mistakes and nearly destroying the world doesn't seem to be unique to any avatar so it's completely irrelevant to point out how often (and preventably) she failed.

Korra is incredibly overconfident, rude, aggressive, and immature, and while I can understand why some people wouldn't like this, I think it made the character rather endearing in her own right.

I only watched this show because of how often she got her ass kicked/captured/Imprisoned

No lie, I liked seeing her suffer. It gave be a boner.

She was the anti Aang.

She was rude, cocky, violent and downright prejudiced at times. Upon arriving in Republic City, she straight up murdered a guy by coating his head in a solid block of ice.

This alone doesn't make her unlikable, in fact it does the opposite. Why wouldn't you want a more violent avatar to contrast with Aang? It's the fact that despite being put forward as a 'combat expert', she's got a major glass jaw, her main weakness is skipping rope, she's not that great a bender in any of the elements, and she's absolutely terrible at airbending.

No hold on anon, I don't mean terrible at airbending at the start, I mean terrible throughout. She sees it as way to get off tall buildings safely, and to throw breezes at people, when in fact it's probably the strongest non specialised bending art. It's literally as close as you can get to Jedi powers in the show.

So instead of her learning to dodge, we get treated to her getting knocked out every other episode, because not only can she not evade attacks, she can't block them for shit either.

Of course, none of this matters if she had a character progression that lasted, where she grew smarter and wiser. She doesn't.

Or perhaps if the side characters or prequel characters are logical and well explained. They aren't. I still can't fathom why Aang wouldn't take his kids on holiday, or why he wouldn't let people know that tenzin can't actually spirit bend. It's fucking nonsensical, fuck season 2.

That being said, she has some really great moments, why sadly never last as she either gets knocked out 15 seconds later or she just stares at her foe as they gradually spew out more and more tentacles to rip raava from her (again, fuck season 2).

Despite all this, I think she can be classed as merely a symptom, rather than the cause of her own unlikability. The show took so many odd plot and canon choices, and never properly developed any of them, so it's not surprising they do the same for the MC.

Exactly this. She was raised isolated with the white lotus. She didn't know how to act yet. "I'm the avatar, you gotta deal with it." She had bending skills but no common sense. But yet, the show did the Worf Star Trek thing, where they had the enemies able to take her out with ease, to show how powerful they are instead.

That said, I still want her to literally choke me to fucking death with her thighs.

Her terrible choice of opening the spirit portal gives airbending to the one guy who should absolutely not have it, causing a rebellion that destabilizes the Earth Kingdom and Korra is so shit at fighting she gets captured and crippled

The destabilization of the Earth Kingdom directly causes Kuvira's rise to power, and Korra takes so long to recover that she A) can't stop Kuvira's rise to power and B) can't even stop a regular bender in a one-on-one fight even after having the metal in her body removed.

I actually understand this sentiment, as I also enjoy heavily flawed characters with qualities that many would consider unlikable i.e Shinji, but the show doesn't treat Korra's flaws as flaws. I don't think Korra was an outright bad or unlikable character, she was just kind of bland. I can't think of many great character moments with her or memorable lines, she was just generally a meathead who was usually right and said generic protagonist things. I don't think she was written in a way that really explored her character on an interesting level or let her have some fun moments onscreen.

The rest of the show itself is what I really hate, I could write paragraphs complaining about it but Korra was probably the second or third least grating element of the show.

My beef with her is that her personality was basically Katara with greater power and worshipers. It never seems like she has any sort of self awareness (or self doubt).
