Nah, just kidding, that page is amazing. layout and composition is fucking great. Especially how lydia is placed on the center, cutting the two middle frames. I like it.

I'll treasure this fanart forever, man. Forever. And yeah, still, my anatomy sucks, i know, and i'm going to put extra attention to that in the future, especially the sagging breasts. Considering she's 24, i must get those breasts right. She looks way too old for her age.

>>94598980
Drop them advices, I need them. I'm basing her style on the kind of wear my last girlfrend wore, but yeah, bras and shit. I'm more about unclipping them than drawing them.

what sounds better if someone is escaping from hell? "Finnley's Second Coming" or "Finnley's Resurrection"

its just for the name of one of the story arcs for after the introduction chapter.

i personally thing "resurrection" is a bit overused, and a little edgy, but "second coming" is too tame. any ideas?
its gotta be "finn's yadda-yadda" though, so it maches the other arc names

So I started a new comic, putting the previous one on indefinite hiatus. Oops.

I keep wasting time on details which are almost lost after zooming out to 30% (pic) and completely lost at 20%. At least I managed to ink one page within a single day, that's progress considering my usual pace.

I probably also need a bigger brush because those lines are very thin after resizing the image.

>I'm more about unclipping them than drawing them.
eyyyyyy
Your ex was probably cute, those turtleneck crop top things are for confident and cute people.

Alright, sorry for the novel but if you're interested to try them:

-keep everything the same proportionally but nip the very thinnest part of her waist in just a tiny more/make her shoulders slightly smaller, with the length/slenderness of her neck I think you could push that a little harder without it going too poorly. I if you're goin' for thicc something like the left version might not do it for you, I pretty much just made all of her smaller proportional to the boobies.

-google up some lingerie models/porn/whatever and draw some bra with underwire/panty combos on her with reference, even if they're just simple shapes of different types (Balconettes look killer on the big titti imo, pic related) Drawing her in panties will help you structure your hip/tummy area, which looks to me to be your weakest anatomy area. (Understandable, learning to draw the opposite gender is weirdly hard, but you're doing great with some of the more subtle stuff, like the bend of the spine and the little bit of chest above the boobs.)

-I don't think you have to worry about realism this much, but pushup bras usually don't come in over a G cup, which means you're gonna have a lot of lift and separate types like pic related, where the underwire comes up between the jubbles instead of smashing them together.

Honestly drawing bras should just help you get an idea what boobs are shaped like under clothing and strapped in, which is a different beast visually from letting them float free.

You get good at writing the same way you get good at drawing: observing life, consuming other media, critiquing yourself and others, and recieving critique. It's harder to define what makes a good writer than what makes a good artist, but for dialog in particular, the following self-critique criteria may help:

>is this something a real person would say? Some authors get so used to narrative cliches like long monologues and "as you know..."-type exposition that they never stop to think whether a real person would talk like that.
>is this someone this character would say? Everyone has their own particular way of phrasing things, even people who grew up under very similar cultural influence.
>what is the speaker's objective in this conversation? People communicate to achieve a purpose - whether to micromanage, interrogate, impress, plead, whatever. Knowing the language habits of people in general, modified by the language habits of a character in particular, the final inflection is in what the speaker is hoping to achieve. Even if they're lying to themselves or confused about their own objectives, a person's motives will show in their language.

The most important thing to remember is that the most information content in a sentence isn't what they say, it's how they say it. Phrasing, rhythm, and word choice are powerful tools to give insight into a character's head.

>>

>>94603943
This is good stuff. I just wanna add on with some of my own tips
>Every line of dialogue should have a purpose in the greater story, whether that to be to inform, characterize, or even just to maintain a rhythm. When writing your script, it helps to look at every line and ask yourself *why* that line specifically needs to be included.
>Realistic does not always equate to good. Real people ramble, go off on tangents, repeat themselves, and ramble while talking. This can get pretty grating for an audience to read. Don't be afraid to trim the fat from conversations to make them more concise.

Better to manually draw the panel borders each time, as layouts can sometimes change, even if you're mostly using a set grid.

Alternatively, print out a template grid in light blue as a guideline. You can buy pre-ruled comic boards with standard templates printed on, which isn't much different than making a custom template for your own strips.
>>

>>
Complete, not going to work on this anymore, just going to upload this. I was told that my narrative is trash so far, which could be fair, although its not something that's been discussed much because its a lot more time commitment for people to read the comic and give you their opinion of it. I hope it is entertaining trash at least, although considering that's there probably not.

>>94601008
I wasn't criticizing your anatomy or anything, I just thought it is something to consider, although she is only 24, its probably not something that is going to effect her too much.
>>
>>94602107
You really didn't. This new version makes her cranium a lot smaller compared to her chin. Hair this bushy shouldn't be lying flat on top like this, given the height of her hairline.
>>
>>94605885
>I was told that my narrative is trash so far, which could be fair, although its not something that's been discussed much because its a lot more time commitment for people to read the comic and give you their opinion of it.
No, no, it's not like that.
If someone tells you your storytelling sucks after 32 (if that number in filename is correct) pages, what are you gonna do? Reset the whole thing? What if someone tells you your storytelling sucks after 150 pages? Once the pages are done, it's game fucking over, you're stuck with what you have, unless it's the most recent page or two, I suppose you can still redraw those.

So what do the pros do? They show either the script or the rough draft (very, very rough sketches with text and panels laid out) to their editors or friends or otherwise trusted people and ask for opinions. That's where you have to ask. If you ask when your whole comic is done, it's way too fucking late man!

I want to tell you than I've been your fan at least in the /hyw/ scope for probably years already and I do hope you'll achieve whatever you're looking for eventually, but don't whine like that, it's unsightly. I'm also a bit drunk, so you probably wouldn't get this post out of me otherwise.

ANYWAY! I think when you make a comic, you need to decide on certain guidelines that are NOT directly related to the story and very carefully examine your script or draft to make sure it follows those guidelines. Maybe you want to draw in readers fast, you have to focus on that then, make things interesting quickly. Maybe your want to focus on worldbuilding, fascinate your potential reader with amazing things he wouldn't think of himself, go for that then. Maybe you have a specific storytelling device you want to use - I remember a comic shilled here that made a point of drawing as if it was a movie, with 4 or 5 same size horizontal panels per page. Cool, go for it! Just focus on that and not on dreams of getting attention, IMO.

Post limit hit.
>>
>>94605885
>>94606483
I hit the 2000 character limit, so let me explain a bit further.

You need to decide on those guidelines and stick to them. If you want to change things around, do it before you get to finalizing pages, after that it's too late. And if you chose a particular storytelling device as your focus, stick to it, don't start to regret after 30 or 50 pages that you didn't focus on the glitter to pull in readers instead, that's just work wasted and your motivation going down the drain.

I don't really know what you want to go for with your bakery owner magical midget girl comic, but I wish you good luck!

Also link plz, I'm too drunk/tired to use Google and someone else might want to read your comic too.

>>94605885
I'm the guy who wrote that overly long post and I just reread your comic. You're setting up for some 45-50 page long chapter one that introduces several characters, all in action. This is fine. What's not fine:
- your speech bubbles are sometimes out of order
- you made typos when you were lettering by hand
- the cameo by your porn characters is useless and a waste of pages, unless they're supposed to play some role in the comic later on
- stick to one style please. color all pages or greyscale all pages or black and white all pages, don't switch every two or three. i think it looks best when you're coloring it, especially since it tends to clear up some of the busier panels and your palette is nice.
- same goes for the font. dude, anime ace is fine, just use that, really
- you draw weird boobs at times and boobs are very crucial to the appeal of the comic. (note: your mileage may vary)

If you wanted to draw in readers fast, you might've been stretching the first chapter too far; cutting out the incantation redhead and her team as well as both cameos and sticking to the midget and the soon-to-be-zombies would probably work better. Still, I think you're doing a decent job at chapter one even for serious standards (i.e. not "it's just a webcomic bruhhhh"), as long as you end it with something interesting, a definitive hook - that's what your comic has been lacking so far, it has quite nice art, some magic, some action, but no definitive hook. I can't really tell what would work best so I hope you can think of something on your own.

So once again good luck and I'm going to sleep.
>>
>>94606795
Clip Studio Paint has it all.
>>
>>94604532
It's really not that bad. I get up early to draw 1 hour before work, then 1 hour after work. It's all about setting up a schedule.

>>94605885
That's a shame to hear. But honestly, my early chapters aren't too good either; nobody's are. You read the criticism and improve from there.

There's things I wish I had differently today, But had I done them in the first place, I would have still wondered what my comic would be like if I had done something else instead. Never lose sight if why you wanted to draw comics in the first lace
>>
>>94607314
>- same goes for the font. dude, anime ace is fine, just use that, really

Not that guy, but how do you choose a font for your comic? I've been going by instinct but I don't feel secure doing it.
>>
>>94603160
It's okay to do it backwards. What kind of stuff do you want to draw them doing? then, ask yourself why someone might want that
I guarantee Togashi Yoshihiro wasn't like "man I want to write a guy that wants to meet his dad, and a guy who wants money to act as a charity doctor, and a guy that wants to murder people.. but how do I link them together?" i think he was like "i want a setting about people who become licensed multipurpose special adventurers, i'll think of reasons why they all want to be one later"

I really appreciate the time you take to say that, I understand. I had posted storyboards of the chapter in the past, the reason for sharing them here is because I kind of smother people who I usually go to with world building stuff, so they might be too on-the-same-page as me, unfortunately.

The goal for this chapter is "action scenes" "magical girl shenanigans " and "showing off characters".

>>94606605
>>94606631

I understand, the current storyboard was implemented at the end of 2015, and I have been working on it through out 2016, because I am bad at time managements so there are lot of time in between pages to have second thoughts, but I am still fully committed.

>>94607314
Thanks, these observation really helpful. I don't know what a hook would be, that might depends. What I wanted out of this comic was kind of nebulous so I guess that's why its unfocused, something to think about.

At least according to the original plan, those characters all have plot relevance, they are not just porn characters.

>>94607367
Thanks. Also, I tried doing the schedule thing as well, although I only able to reliably do about 30 minutes to an hour every other work day or so. Bulk of the work are still completed on weekends.

Thank you. Yeah, it's probably not consistent - I'm still figuring out how to keep a character design looking the same in turnarounds, and also experimenting with my style at the same time. It's a little haphazard, but that's the way I learn best, I think.

This is the other character I'm working on pinning down the design of. She's supposed to be kind of cute and goofy, using more rounded shapes than Isaac (goggles kid) whose design is more angular.

Try to invent the line - in other words, use the sketch as the basis for a new drawing rather than copying what's underneath. Don't be afraid to improvise, either - practice drawing in ink without an undersketch every once in a while to increase your confidence in putting down lines blind.

it'll help me a lot. really.
As for her proportions, i'm trying to get her soulders and upper back relatively large, as I intend her to be somewhat fit, I've based that on another IRL friend of mine who's fit as fuck, after two years of insanity, she became some sort of powerhouse with a fit upper body, and this is the kind of shit I wanna do for Ophélie. Her body structure is very much different than Ophélie, though.

But yeah, I'm gonna draw more bras, to get more comfy with drawing better clothing.

Also, do you guys know a good online place where I can get nice girl fashion? I generally have a good idea for men's fashion, as my own fashion sense is kinda okay, but for girls, i need help. When I draw girls, i just want to put them in tshirts and shit.

Did some MS paint doodles today while researching for my new episode. I'm gonna put a part in the comic where you can "see" a song like the one you could see on the first page on last chapter.
Usually a friend of mine comes up with the lyrics, but this time i wanted to write something about a viking shieldmaiden destroying a village, amon amarth style. What do you think of the lyrics so far? I need to know, as I'm not a native english speaker.

Here's what I came up so far:
>The first man she killed was a poor farmer boy,
>She gladly took his life away!
>His desperate pleads and cries in deaf hears fell,
>She hacked his feeble neck away!

>The burning smells of houses filled her with great joy,
>Ashes and blood, lives thrown away,
>Through the cold winter night, loud sounds of death foretell
>The joy of the maiden on display

>The way of the vikings
>Death is her fate
>She's the last shieldmaiden
>Glory halls wait

Is there any way to make this shit better?
I studied literature when I was in college, but in terms of creative writing, i'm kinda bankrupt.

Alright, here we go.

Capeworld is mostly a superhero project, but I've always liked how superhero universes have little corners that go against the grain and take after other genres. Jonah Hex inhabits a western corner, Man-Thing inhabits a horror corner, Adam Strange a pulp sci-fi corner.

This is a one of Capeworld's corners and it takes after the...post-apocalyptic cartoon animal genre.

Think Mad Max plus Escaflowne plus Kamandi. After a global plague war forced humanity to introduce different DNA into their genome or die civilization has started to rebuild itself from the ruins. Predators fight and rule. Prey build and obey.

Life is hard on Earth B-7-O. And though the knights that pilot massive metal animals in jousts on cracked asphalt roads in the shadow of palaces that were once CEO office buildings do so with cheers and praise from the common folk they to have a hard life.

As one child is about to learn first hand.

I've almost finished this page, just a few more details and it's done.
>>
>>94622026
It sort of depends on the characters. Character chemistry isn't just one thing.

Like in my Daredevil stories (about the public domain Daredevil) his interactions with Airboy (another PD superhero) are about him trying not to seem weird and mystical. It's about The Dardevil trying to sound like one of the guys even when there are things he can only describe with magical, far out descriptions.

Recent chapters in the story have him in a different light showing him from the perspective of a German soldier and he's depicted as the kind of unstoppable magical juggernaut he's trying so hard not to come across with his friends.

A single character isn't going to act the same way around different characters.

To see what I'm talking about you can check out my Daredevil story here:

Hey everyone. I couldn't find a questions thread, so I'll ask here:

I'm trying to find the name of a webcomic that I read a long time ago.

It's about three kids in school. One of them is a black tomboy The dialog is absurd and generally really weird. The main character gets a gf and is obsessed with her, and his dad is always trying to kill him. At some point the MC and the black girl have a fight and then in the principal's office they have a rap battle.

What was it called?

>>94619079

You're missing the point. I don't really have this problem with other parts of the body. I'm not saying my proportions are 100% or anything, but I don't have to correct as often. I have to correct head size almost 100% of the time. Which is a waste. Like, I don't have this problem with eyes and ears because I know where the invisible line that sets them are. Same with things like hands feet and torsos.

I was just thinking there's got to be some rule(s) about what size the body should be in proportion to the head.
>>
>>94623591
This made me chuckle. I really like your art. For some reason it gives off an oldschool webcomic feel (in a good way), though I'm not quite sure why.

Do you have it up on a website somewhere?

I'm in the same boat as you, anon. Still trying to develop a feel for how I want this project to actually look. My typical style is very rounded and simple (I loathe to say "calarts", but it's the term that best describes it), but I was inspired by Villainous to push myself to try a sharper, more angular sort of Maxwell Adams-ish style, or kind of like that dude who does Skarpworld. I'm still not really doing it justice, I don't think, but I'm getting closer.

I'm making some progress with my MC, though - I'm trying to think more carefully about how his hair interacts with the goggles here, and in comparison to >>94604711 I think it definitely looks better.

Heads vary more than anything else, depending on style. The important thing is the proportion of the head's features. The quickest route to ugly is making someone's forehead or jaw too head or too small, nose or mouth placed wrong, eyes the wrong distance... That's why that whole circle construction thing is so important: without it a lot of people draw the top dome of the head too small, or forget to make the hair larger than the skull, and instead fill the skull's area in with hair

She's turning to the right. I've blown up the scene where she leaves as well as adjusting the pose of the man in panel 3 to make it clear.

Scavenger Corps 03

Director's Commentary:
Bashed this one out quickly as I Have No Ideas But I Must Draw, else I'd have spent more time on character and vehicle design. Also: left-handed shooters. Worked at a slightly different size, A4, than my usual A5.

Well, professional in the sense that I get paid to make animations, you know, like, as a job.
>>
>>94626402
Yeah Dewd, and since I do sketch animations and get paid for it I'm also a profesional artist and animator that can get drop a resume with no previous experience in CN or Nick

It's not really a job if you're self employed, sadly. Being a "pro" in the animation industry means you got yourself a role to play on a tv show like storyboarder or something.

rhyming away with away was a conscious choice. It was a very poor choice but I found it funny. In twain sounds more gory, i like it.

And I fixed the deaf ears. I can't believe I let that slip.

I'll see with my "songwriting" friend if there's anything i can tweak. He found out rather quickly that it was very inspired by amon amarth's "first kill" song.

>or forget to make the hair larger than the skull, and instead fill the skull's area in with hair

What do you mean by this? Do you mean starting the hairline too low on the head?

It's true what you said about proportions on the face that's its own struggle. Really I don't spend enough time constructing because I'm always in a hurry. Which is something I need to work on. But it still pisses me off that even if I spend a lot of time constructing a head I start drawing the body disproportionately small for the head that I've drawn.

I read recently to try constructing from the torso out which has yielded some results. The trick then is to draw the head at the right angle, attach it to a neck as drawn extending from the torso. Which shouldn't be as hard as I'm apparently making it.
>>
>>94628028
she looks like fairy Tracer. Kinda. I like the design a lot. I wish I had enough time to find references and draw that shit as well as you.

and the big head thing. I'm happy to know that i'm not the only one to make this mistake. Nowadays, i just construct the body as a whole and then go for the face. And yeah, proportions on the face must be carefully done, or you'll end up with someone with fetal alcohol syndrome or a down syndrome dude.
But your new way of constructing works pretty well, man. Good job :)

No, like the top of the hair is where the top of the skull should be, but then the hair itself is clearly shaped like it's elevated, whether it's puffed up or it has a deep part drawn in it or whatever. Thus it hints at the skull being too low.

The travel is to visit my bf though. He lives in Argentina and I live in Mexico. He also traveled to visit me first, but he had a good paying touristic job last summer which gave him enough money to pay the trip in 2 months. I'm still developing it since it is more an experiment than anything. An exercise webcomic of sorts before moving to a bigger one. Thing is I ended up making too much worldbuilding on what should have been a more simple idea and I'm worried the ending becomes too overwhelming because of it. Also because it is an indirect tie-in to what would be the next bigger webcomic. Kinda like what CLAMP did with Chobits being an indirect sequel of a previous manga they did (Angelic Layer) because they only shared the setting and one character in the backstory.

I think you jumped onto thinking about the environment that you wanted to write in rather than think of a character and a goal first if that is the case.
I too was guilty of this during development, asking questions about what foundations in the world would allow the MC to do whatever they're going to do when in reality the justification should come from the story itself and not some world building minutiae (no offense to the work put into it.)

Do you know who your characters are?

>>
>>94638662
I actually know who my characters are and what motivates them, I'm actually afraid that was the first thing I settled down before moving into thinking what they actually were. I understand what you are saying (I actually did those mistakes on other stuff in the past) but I think my main problem this time around is more because, as I said, the worldbuilding became too big for what in the end is a gag-a-day story. The story is about personifications of concepts and in thinking about "where do they come from and why" I got some interesting concepts but ended with the background being more complex than what I anticipated.

Obscure games are always good. I'm learning more and more about those on the internets lately. No matter how unknown they are to a wide american audience, there are people in some places and ages who know them so well that they're just as nostalgic as any of us
Kind of odd to say 'sensual' there. maybe just sexy? or 'that's kinda hot'
'compatriot' is a real word, but we usually say 'countryman' in english

I don't think anyone is retarded enough to realize there's no more room for a character, working in digital art, and not just shrink them down/ move them out of the way of the title. That had to be intentional. It just didn't look great

Anyone have tips for writing believable smart nerdy characters when your not smart yourself? I'm not a genius so its kind of hard to figure out how to write a smart character. Dialogue for them is also tricky.
>>
>>94648303
Either find a friend who is close to be as smart nerdy as your character or do some research, don't be afraid of approaching people on the field your character is supposed to be smart on and ask for advice.

It really isn't

EtMotL (Scavenger Corps)

Both entries were interesting and had some nice ideas going on!

Also we need to begin thinking on how we will decide the theme and genres for the next challenge so we avoid all the problem we got with this one.
>>
>>94650287
How about we all propose a few choices then vote on the final mix?

Or have each contest winner decide the next topic? Eh
>>
>>94650955
Both are good ideas actually, but I personally feel more inclined for the first one, since with that we could probably get ideas for the genres too.
>>
What do you think of ads that are placed like in pic related? Have been thinking of maybe placing some in a similar way on my future page.
>>
>>94651985
They look as good as any advertisement, although if you had two different kind of adds it might end up making the whole page look incongruous.

>>94650287
>>94650955
>>94651053

Suggestions:

3 pages is a limit, but submissions can be 1 or 2 pages.

There is one theme, but it's far more general than what we've been seeing. So instead of word salad think "science fiction" or "romance" or "western". We could potential go more restrictive with stuff like "gothic horror" or "space western" but no more word salad.

Winner picks next theme.

Would these be good changes?

Er, i would prefer arrows not change which comic I'm reading, as my laggy shitty computer often requires me to use arrows to move around the page.
>>
>>94655663
To be honest I'm just messing with codes to see what actually works better on the page (and mostly because the first "solution" I found didn't work to I took it personal). My pages aren't going to be so big so I don't think arrows will be necessary for reading, at least not the left and right ones. I understand your problem though.
>>
Can we just fukcing pick the next theme already?
>>
>>94655970
The vote has only been up for five hours. I don't think we should call it so soon, especially when its so close.

But I suppose we could pick another theme while keeping the voting open, but that would mean doing away with the "winner picks" suggestion.

For the sake of speed we might want to do away with "winner picks" anyway.

I'll suggest a theme-Magic. Wizards. Stage magicians. Magical Girls. Anything Magic.
>>
>>94656059
So for the next challenge:..

1. Entries are 1-3 pages.

2. The theme is magic.

3. (my suggestion) since we're allowing 1 and 2 page submissions should we shorten the time to 1 week instead of 2 or keep it at 2?

Does this look good?

I just read all of that. Wow. I'm french and even I can tell when it's terrible writing.

Like you state that angel has the "darkest backstory EVER". Can't tell if you're joking, because seriously, being sold to the "porno mafia" is rather hillarious when you think about it.

Also, to be honest, the writing is awful, and it seems you try to put as much as you can in this wall of text, stuff that was never explained in the comic and probably never will.

I should give your comic a full read to see if it has some redeemable qualities, but sorry man. This writing so far is garbage.

I may not be the best comic artist, but I have like a 15 page long documentation on my characters, motivations, end goals, major plot points to be shown in the comic, character interaction, their fears, how they'd react to any given situation and reference material. For instance, Harry is to be written as a guy who could be perceive as a Jack Black character: "Harry breathes Jack Black, think Jack Black, wants to be Jack Black, well whatever his vision of Jack Black is"

Each narrative chapter I plan out is written beforehand, discussed with friends, then I draw said chapter and put changes on the fly.

Your comic seems like you don't put any though in it, you just rush it, art wise, and, from what I gather, story wise to put it as fast as possible.
That Annabeth "recap" clearly shows that: your writing is a train of thoughs, some incoherent rambling trying to convince yourself that your character as depth beyond: He's a boy who thinks he's a girl and sometimes wants to suck Jack's cock.

Anyway, post is way too long and I didn't want to sound like an asshole, because, clearly, you like what you're doing, even though I do not find it clearly groundbreaking in any way. I just wish to give you my vision of things to help you grow as a cartoonist.

Anyway here's some random art to compensate the overly long rambling.
>>

also you got annabeth wrong, he looks like a girl, who claims to be a boy but also might not be a boy and annabeth ain't gay, they're just super best friends.

but anyways, thanks for the advice and fan art!

>"porno mafia"
Reminder in Japan the yakuza and the (((victors))) of WWII heavily control the JAV industry. A lot of girls are conned into signing modeling contracts, but later strongarmed into doing adult videos. Censorship is rampant because its a way for them to dip their hand into the pot again (censoring "fees").

Porn in the culture has become so normalized that no one bats an eye at any of this anymore so most of these girls don't even bother to ask for help. It'll only get more degenerate from here.

and yet you don't ask yourself if this wall of text that you call a recap is publishable material as is? Because it need some hard rewrite. It's not good. Intelligent, educated people in the sciences sound like regular people, but will use technical terms more often, that's kind of a given. In what way is your character 'intelligent'?
People who have a wider range of vocabulary, and use it correctly, and actively use, seem more like people who enjoy reading a lot. They've studied the English language, although I don't think they would know much about physical sciences.

you learn to draw well enough to sell it first

Fetishes

- draw cute girls
- be funny
- don't make the same mistakes other artists do
- try to be different
- just let your fans do the marketing for you, people share what they like

You'd basically commission an artist for a large project and you being the main foreperson, you'd have to tell them your end goals and what you envision so that way they can match that vision as best they can.

I don't see how you're disagreeing with whiner anon there. in his mind (or in the scenario he's presented via trolling) writing is just worthless ideas and art is all the work

from what i gathered from what you posted on the last two weeks, it took 26 pages to show a man jogging in a neighbourhood, wiping sweat and hitting someone with a baseball bat.
This is definitely not good pacing, man. Imagine if a sold comic did that. Looks at the first issue of the Galaktikon comic that was released last week: It's about intergalactic divorce. What is the difference between 26 pages of this and yours?

It's a shame because you clearly show dedication to your work, but man. 26 pages that could be shortened to like 2-3 pages without loosing any content. Think about that. Because pacing will kill your comic: there is no hook on these pages, and you'll never gather readership with that.

I'd suggest that you redraw these 26 pages in a 4 pages max format, to practise on paneling, layout and composition. All I remember from reading these for two weeks were extreme closeups and a guy jogging in the street.

Hope you'll consider that.

Maybe this is the deep-seeded clinical depression talking, but:

Name somebody who started running, or drawing, or playing their instrument of choice, or dancing, or whatever, late in life, who ever went on do to anything of any worth whatsoever.

Hell, if people live to 100, go ahead and name people who started at 30, or 40, or 50. It shouldn't be difficult, should it? But it is, because by the time you're of a certain age, you're already the person you are. Maybe you'll fix a couple things about yourself over time, but you will not suddenly be someone with the inner drive, the motivation to DO. And even if you do become that person, which you won't, the world doesn't give a shit.
You're 35 and want to be a motorcycle racer, do you SERIOUSLY think anyone would sponsor you, racing against 18 year olds?
You're 29 and want to be an animator, do you SERIOUSLY think you'll get that internship instead of all the young folks coming out of just the right California art schools?
You're 23 and want to try being a singer. Guess what? You won't be of a remotely acceptable skill level until you're 27, unless you REALLY work hard, and you WON'T, because if you were a hard worker, you would've sang at 14.

Every time someone wants to make a point about "starting late" they bring up the same dozen people:
Harper Lee, Harrison Ford, Rodney Dangerfield, Hiromu Arakawa, Darwin, so on and so forth. They conveniently ignore that they'd done their profession for years, if not decades, and were only ACKNOWLEDGED for it late in life. That doesn't mean they started late. And even if they had, they are very clearly the rare few who're the exception to the rule.
It's like people who say "Bill Gates dropped out of school" to excuse their shit academic record, conveniently ignoring he dropped out of HARVARD.

The VAST MAJORITY of true achievers knew exactly what they were doing by the time they were a teen or earlier.

I'd love to be wrong, but I don't think I am.
>>
>>94666061
You are not wrong. You will never be the top percentile, never a genius or prodigy. The best you can be is "for your age". Like that asian dude who turned into the comedy relief actor for hollywood, he used to be a doctor. He's not going to be Brad Pitt, but hey he did well for following his dreams at that age. You could too, at least you aren't literally brain damaged like dewd.

>You're 29 and want to be an animator, do you SERIOUSLY think you'll get that internship instead of all the young folks coming out of just the right California art schools?
lol a problem with media that it's always been about connections but thanks to the internet if you create something special enough you can get recognition
>You're 23 and want to try being a singer. Guess what? You won't be of a remotely acceptable skill level until you're 27, unless you REALLY work hard, and you WON'T, because if you were a hard worker, you would've sang at 14.
yeah hardwork is always important, but come on ever watch those lame talent tv shows

>Every time someone wants to make a point about "starting late" they bring up the same dozen people:
Andrew Hussie didn't start getting known until he was in his early 30s
sure he had other comics before MS Paint Adventures (And It Don't Stop, Whistles, Team Special Olympics) but those weren't popular
Hell Jailbreak and Bard Quest weren't popular
Hell you could argue he didn't become shit until he was in Act 5 of Homestuck
before all that, his day job was something with computers
ONE started when he was 23, and all he had was doodles, his art still isn't very good with Mob Psycho 100, but it's still something people like.

>The VAST MAJORITY of true achievers knew exactly what they were doing by the time they were a teen or earlier.
yeah but not all people who knew what they were doing when they were a teen became achievers

Basically, what I'm saying in the age of the internet you can still get an audience if you try and create something good

>I'd love to be wrong, but I don't think I am.

>>
>>94666061
>>94666174
also if you're in it for the "fame and success"

what about iconic artists like gogh that started in his late 20s? artists like grandma moses which started very elderly?
monet was basically dead at this 30 years when he started his art career for his time
these people started late, they didnt get recognition because they didnt paint
and then you even fucking disprove yourself you autistic fuck unless you work very hard but you wouldve started younger then, you are literally admitting that if you started working now you would make it
not to mention webcomics can have shit all for art achievable within 5 months by absolute fucking retards and still be appealing if the story is good. and what is this faggotry about being the person you are? you are trying to draw a fucking comic not become albert einstein

then all this fuck about sponsorship, those are companies, they maximize profit, they take no risks, you are trying to be a comic artist no? you sell to people, people read your comics. they wont care about your age or any dumb shit like that, they care whether or not your comic is good
do you SERIOUSLY think people give a flying fuck about your age? do you SERIOUSLY think in this day and age the company hired and trained animator is more viable than the selftaught one?

I mean you're somewhat right. You certainly are the person you'll always be in your teens (or should be). Athletics, yeah, you gotta be young and healthy
more skill-based things like singing, drawing, music, etc. though? No way. the older you get, the better you get. True, you need to show aptitude early in life, but that doesn't mean you have to be great already. Just have signs of potential future greatness. I'm sure you do whether you can see it or not. I intentionally avoided art school knowing I wasn't good enough, and wasn't improving very quickly, but if that was the kind of thing it was economically feasible to do at my age, I think I'd be good enough now.
