My problem with season 2 wasn't as consistent as the first season. My problem with season 3 is that I'm not really emotionally invested enough in the characters to care about a divorce story arc, on top of the problems that season 2 had.

Harmon is fanning this "female writer vs male writer" shit on purpose to either garner popularity for the season through controversy, justify their phoned in writing through scapegoating, or to just have a giggle at the fighting. Think about it, they know the whole "women aren't funny" thing is believable, they know full well about the "anti-SJW behavior" they're sub-reddit partakes in (I don't think they give much of a shit about /co/), and they know that same sub-reddit will shit their pants at the any and all "feminazi" rhetoric in their show, so it makes total sense that they would use it to their advantage, whatever that advantage may be.

What I think went on is that they posted that thing about them hiring new female writers and that picture of the male and female writers eating some faggy meal either intentionally or non, but saw the backlash from cynics who presumed the worst (for good reason desu), and decided to use that to, again, either jumpstart some buzz, or to have a giggle, by making it abundantly clear what episodes were written by females, and what weren't.

Think, why would Rick be so fucking emotional this season? Harmon and Roiland aren't complete dumbasses, they knew it felt out of character, just listen to Rick's delivery in Pickle Rick. It sounds like, at times, even Roiland knows how fucking stupid they actually sound. They must've knew the therapist scene was out of place and was damn near sterotypical of what you'd expect from female writers. And to have that very same therapist look like the writer? Do we know if Harmon and Roiland commented or referenced the whole Jared thing?

Again, autistic ramblings, but if my hypothesis is true, then this might be the greatest 'fuck with the fans' moment an Adult Swim's show has ever pulled off. Season still sucks though,I'll just wait for the reveal.

At the end all I have to say are the fact that adding women writers can only do good positively, as it now appeals to a wider audience crowd, notice? how the next 2 episodes in the 3rd season got bigger and views? It's because they appealed to more people.

The only is place can go is up, they make a good decesion, who gives a shit what /co/ is thinking at the? they aren't the main target, that's clear. Adding women was the single best rejuvenation technique as it brought in fresh viewers. In fact, if that same episode aired next it would be absolutely terrible. Instead of Morty realizing everything he's done so far was a mistake and that Rick ultimately was right by killing the gas cloud with the same weapon he was so against from the start of the episode; we would have Rick shooting the gas bubble from the bushes then making some snarky mean-spirited comment about how Morty is a pussy then explaining to Morty that everything Morty did was a mistake and that ultimately he was right all along.

Which has been the problem with this entire season. It's been tell not show.

Here's how Pickle Rick should have ended: Beth leaves the serum in the lab: Rick returns and gets it right as the family is returning from the shrink, which that entire B-Plot is cut and thrown into the garbage. They're happier and more connected and even Morty doesn't seem to want to spend time with Rick. Rick attempts to make some half-assed jokes against the family, but they ignore him and move on to more fulfilling activities. The episode closes with Rick alone in the lab contemplating if he even should have gone through the effort to avoid spending time with the family. That simple change lets you have your stupid Pickle Rick adventure with its lame jokes but stabilizes the concept in reality instead of the writer venting their frustration towards their upper middle-class family.
