Rebecca Sugar is great there are a couple of good boarders who make high quality episodes.

The limitations of VA accessibility make all the episodes have a limited cast of characters. This means we get full episodes of Steven doing a shitty monologue and not interacting with the rest of the cast. The character personalities and interactions make the show, so these episodes fucking suck.
The Cartoon Network production cycle also makes it hard for the show runner to properly oversee and provide quality control for all of the episodes. A massive detriment when it's a show attempting a continuous story arc.

I hate the fans, but what I hate about the show is the "Nothing happens for 26 episodes" limbo it has been stuck since its inception.

They try to hard to work around the bomb format but they just bore a big portion of their audience, also I personally take issue with how anticlimactic the arc resolutions have been, I can forgive the healing of LL but the rest of stuff fails at making the stakes involved work, heck Bismuth was a bit of a recovery in wich Steven gets actually questioned for his ideology and there was a repercussion, but the rest is just anticlimactic.

You can't make all your villains sympathetic or misunderstood, you can't tease an alien empire only to make them look incompetent the next four episodes...SU got really formulaic and boring where they never really deal with a problem just to have those characters pop up next time after they got hit by the hammer of flanderization to a point they are hard to recognize or they came up with a musical number to explain their motivations.

It's not the fandom man, there is stuff that actually hinders this show image and it starts with the show writing, I'm not going to talk about animation or the lack of merchandise since those are a whole new can of worms.

How much of that is the show and how much is the constraints of CN's run-style? Seems to me like stevenbombs are part and parcel with the 10-minute baby episodes (20 if it's a 2-parter), and I don't blame the team for feeling like stevenbombs are the only way to get the more epic content in.

Feels like Shooga wants to make an anime but that's just not what you can do with the CN format.

Yes, to some people those events were subjectively boring/killed a lot of buildup and impressions they originally had with the show. The bomb format actually kills hype when you are in a drought of content.

The rant is mostly subjective from a member of the audience, but the fact that they try to cram a lot of shit together into a pseudo arc and fail to live the hype is quite terrible.

SU doesn't reward the viewers for sticking around, if anything it feels as if they are punishing you or derailing expectations, homeworld gems being shown as incompetent or Steven dodging consequences outside of 2 times post S2 is quite terrible.

As I said before I won't get into animation, music or merchandise, but SU is a bag of mixed opportunities and beyond terrible pacing that highlights how cheap the writing actually is(Chatacters shouldn't outright sing, cry or sing while crying everytime their mood changes, that is valid criticism).

well, season 3 (now called 4 and 5), was green lit a long while back, I don't recall when, unfortunately. We initially found out about the season 3 green light because of Sucrose's father unofficially announcing the news on his blog, long before Cartoon Network PR announced the season splitting, so that every 26 episodes ordered would be considered a new season, rather than every 52 episodes like season 1.

The fact that they're still working on the show to this day would suggest that they're working on future seasons, up to 6 and 7. Perhaps they've even greenlit 8 and 9 if CN still wants more and Sucrose feels like she can stretch the plot even further.

Because it IS popular, and CN cant deny that and just cancel the show without backlash. They have been attempting to kill the show though with massive hiatuses, no advertisement, only showing the show through bombs, bad rerun selection, and now not showing any reruns at all as far as I know. Its a shame really. It was fun, got traction, then got picked up by the tumblr communities that the show tried to be inclusive to, and now its become some big symbol for whatever crowd that I'm certain CN doesnt want it to be a symbol for. The lesbian undertones dont help much either, but at this point they seem pretty far and between.
Also, the real answer to the quesiton is I think it should only be in its 3rd now. Halfway the 2nd season, CN decided to cut all the planned seasons in half, obviously to market as completing "seasons" earlier, so they have a "legitimate" claim to put more hiatuses between the finished "seasons." The first season was the only real FULL season. If its on its 5th, it should really have just finished with its 3rd.
All my speculation on the broadcasting habits of CN are purely speculation, but it makes complete sense to me when they have shit like TTG running 80% of the time and basically have tried the same stuff at other times. CN seems pretty shitty as of late as a company.

I just dont know how they get away with it. Theres nothing wrong with rerunning finished shows or older shows right? They have, what 9 seasons of AT to work with? Regular Show finished, but they killed its reruns outside of their bombs, and I never saw the final episodes but was hoping they'd rerun them so I could see them without going out of my way. They never did. Its like they think that once a show is over, its dead to them forever.
The only other show theyre showing is Gumball because people like it and it isnt canceled yet. How do kids not get sick of TTG? Uncle Grandpa is over. AT is on its last season right? Clarence is over I think. They only seem to show O.K K.O! during the 2 hours leading up to the new episodes, which they seem to be showing every other day to run through it as fast as possible. How long can they keep this up?
