"As action stars lead franchises into their second decades, top trainers sweat to keep actors ripped while providing knee- and back-friendly routines now that they "can’t take the physical abuse."

LMAO, why is this not even surprising? Also, why are studios casting people who are older than their comic book counterparts to begin with? Yes, RDJ kickstarted and saved the superhero movieverse, but audiences shouldn't be dependent on his capacity to roid up.

MCU discourse is the norm here so it really isn't out of place.
>>
>>94577794
The only studios this is happening to are the ones that care enough to keep the actor for the same role for the sake of the audience, even though it costs them more and more each time and I can't be mad at them for that. Its one of the few things that they do that I really enjoy. I'd hate it if every movie or two the character is played by a completely new actor of differing talent.
>>
>>94577794
>Also, why are studios casting people who are older than their comic book counterparts to begin with?

Because older actors are established enough to carry a franchise and have the acting chops.
Younger actors are risky because even if they do a good job there's a chance audiences won't connect with them.
And at this point it's hard to find an actor over thirty who hasn't already been in at least one superhero movie.

>at this point it's hard to find an actor over thirty who hasn't already been in at least one superhero movie

Many of the Hollywood old school A+ stars (see Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, Harrison Ford, etc) haven't done capeshit yet and frankly, I don't see them doing it in a nearby future.
>>
>>94577794
Honestly at this point I'm surprised they don't just do it with CGI.
>>
>>94577794
Well most of these guys were cast over a decade ago, when they were much younger. RDJ was in his mid 30's when he got the role as Stark. Now he is pushing 50. Same goes for Jackman who had been playing Wolverine for like 16 years now.
>>
>>94577934
>see Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, Harrison Ford, etc
He means a GOOD actor over thirty.
>>
>>94577955
RDJ was already 41/2 when he was filming Iron Man and basically took the job because his career was done and over after his drug-fuelled years in the 90s and early 2000s. And even then, I don't see him really having a career post MCU.
>>
>>94577992
>And even then, I don't see him really having a career post MCU.
Really? I think he's big enough now that he could easily get other work.
>>
>>94578006
Well besides the Sherlock Holmes movies, all his other movies have bombed. Iron Man is basically the only thing that had constantly been doing well for him. Doesn't hurt that he gets paid a lot doing the Marvel movies either.
>>
>>94577794
>Also, why are studios casting people who are older than their comic book counterparts to begin with?

Hugh Jackman was 31 when he was cast as Wolverine. People age.
>>
>>94578099
How is that even relevant? He was in great shape during the first X-Men movies, but then he began roiding after The Wolverine and it looked ridiculous.
>>
>>94577794
RDJ don't need to be swole, his powers come from the armour.
>>
>>94577794
Dammit you faggot. I thought this was an announcement about Jackman popping up in Cable & Deadpool.
>>
>>94578057
What movies are you referring to? He hasn't been in very many non MCU films since 2008 but the ones I can think of (Tropic Thunder, Sherlock Holmes, Due Date) did well or really well.
>>
I was thinking that Justin Theroux from The Leftovers would be a good replacement for Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, but The roux is only 2 years younger the Jackman

So who do you think would be a good replacement for Jackman?

He wasn't in great shape, but it wasn't like he was out if shape
>>
>>94578433

In 1998 Jackman thought getting in shape was something that took three weeks.
Also he thought Wolverines were fictional.
>>
>>94577794
Even 30-something actors are a challenge to get into shape. Chris Evans was roided up in CA:FA and Sebastian Stan's face was THICC AF because of senseless roiding in Civil War. Shit like that is extremely unnecessary, not to mention fucking dangerous. Just ask Christian Bale and JK Simmons about what happens when you start roiding like crazy. Natural bods can be achieved and it looks better.
>>
>>94578433
But that's closer to comic book Wolverine than whatever the fuck he had going on during the subsequent movies.

top trainers should have been doing the get go. Longevity shouldn't be an afterthought in training, it should be the main focus
>>

>Longevity shouldn't be an afterthought in training
Problem is for some acting rolls they have to shed the muscle mass. Look at Matt Damon in Thr Talented Mr Ripply and Good Will Hunting. He she ALL his muscle and fat
>>
>>94577794
Reminder that Jackman is only flabby/small in X1 because he was a replacement for Dougray Scott 3 weeks into filming
