If enough autists pressure Disney to explain the eye thing, I think they will say that.

She's the only female sheep that makes an appearance. The males all have the eye thing. In all likelihood? Design choice. The weird eyes are off-putting and you want her to remain as adorable and innocent appearing as possible for your heel turn later in the movie.

Would the movie be better if she wasn't the twist villain? Or without a twist villain at all?
>>
>>94560373
how would that work
would the villain just be lionheart then?
>>
>>94560178
all the rams that acted as her muscle had the horizontal sheep eyes. She was given big doll eyes like everyone else.
>>
>>94560373
What do you mean? It was a mystery story. You don't KNOW who the villain was, but you knew that there was one. And of course it was going to be someone you already met because that's how mystery stories work. If it was just some random scumbag you haven't seen before then what good would that do? And if it were Lionheart then the movie would be over pretty quickly.

I heard "No, her eyes were just like that. Medical condition that required her to wear corrective glasses". Don't know how legit that was, but she WAS wearing a dental plate. Sheep don't have upper incisors, and there were no separate teeth, unlike her real (and slightly crooked in some places) lower incisors.
>>
>>94561951

they deleted a lot of scenes that had Judy interact with gigantic things, like a keyboard and a big car that parks over her.

Aside from the obvious eye candy that those scenes provided, they made no sense as we can see Judy living in the same world as elephants and they are not that much bigger that they would need a field-sized keyboard and cars.

>>
>>94563492

>>
>>94560373
The real villain should have been the subconsious speciesism that pearmeated society

The story tried to tackle a big, real-world-ish topic but in the end it still ended up as the machinations of one person
>>
>>94563752
I call it the Disney Villain problem.
>>
>>94560100
No, in a world of talking sapient animals they just went a step further and gave sheep sexual dimorphism to allow the girls to still look cute and thus make the audience more comfortable/not immediately suspect Belleweather as the villain due to subconscious associations of goat eyes with evil.

What bothers me is the fact that this adult sheep female is a quarter the size of an adult sheep male. Like, how do sheep even reproduce if the size difference is that enormous? Sheep pregnancies must be fucking grueling.

designer sheep exist in real life
Which would mean that Bellweather is the product of generations of controlled breeding, or is a midget.

Perhaps the first one would cause her to to develop high expectations of herself, so she had to to anything she could to get power. The secon one could be another insecurity that caused her to turn evil- she'd literally be easy prey.

No, but I'd buy the half breed theory before the contact lens theory, mostly because she's still wearing said lens in prison, and if they aren't corrective (which they aren't, since she wears glasses) then it's hard to imagine they'd let her keep them.

it's not to show her adorable and innocent. It's to make her stand out from the background crowds, avoid making her look so alien so viewers can relate to them and not feel weirder out with all the focus on her face.

Pic related is another blatant example of this. Unless it's a no name background character, it gets human eyes.

This is why I've always believed that she drugged the other sheep into working for her.

In the movie, whenever an animal goes "feral," their eyes change from that standard cartoony look into something more realistic. The Jaguar's eyes get those cat-slits (pic related), the otter's pupils dilate... in fact, the dead giveaway in the final scene that Nick wasn't actually feral was that his pupils were totally normal. I don't know about the rest of you, but that's how I knew he was faking it the whole time.

This is why I think that the reason those other sheep had more animal-ish eyes is that they'd been drugged into following their "obedient" nature. Bellwether Nighthowlered 'em and gave em orders to start a race war. The other sheep, from the hitman to the cops, had no control of their actions. Bellwether was at the top of it all, the only one with normal eyes, master of the flock.

I like an obscure fan theory from way back that sheep subjected themselves to a selective breeding program at one point. It resulted in the recognizable domestic sheep phenotype as well as a biological caste system is the leaders and the followers. The eye thing could factor in there.

before the official existence of the US, most people living within its future borders were of english stock, or immigrants from england.
the next most populous are germans.
http://immigrationtounitedstates.org/548-history-of-immigration-1620-1783.html

during the early 1800s, many people continued coming from Germany, and also other Scandinavian countries. much land in the northern central US was cheap, and uninhabited causing highly motivated and intelligent people to come to the US to buy land.
during -and only during- the irish potato famine, a huge wave of irish came to the US.
after the famine ended, they stopped coming and allowed the irish to assimilate into US culture
https://sites.google.com/site/thenorthsite/early-immigration-in-the-u-s-1

in the late 1800s, more northern europeans came, but a notable amount of chinese also came to the west coast.
i say notable, because they never did this before

Ha! Served you right. Diversity IS strenght, through differences - we unite! And no one will separate us by any means.

Diversity is weakness when there is no assimilation, like with muslims. Cultural arrogance and self-imposed separation due to religious arrogance ("take not christians and jews as friends, as they are only friends to each other"/western culture is obscene and decadent) weakens the whole, cuz it's us...then them, instead of them joining and further strengthening us.

It's design ethic. Rounder eyes are easier to associate and empathize with.

In her case it helps disguise that she's the villain, not the 'nasty looking' carnivore characters.

Zootopia is only mammals. The movie and other sources implies that non-mammals didn't evolve and are fair game.

However, I can easily see why they kept this discreet to avoid confusion.

I do love what Bojack did with the meat industry however, but it would never work for any other show.

Look at those expressions. They say a lot about the first concept, shock collars, et all.

Guy on left is thinking >wtf did I just watch?
Lasseter >are you guys for real..?
facepalm guy >I missed a day of golf for this..
4th guy is thinking >cuts. Lots of cuts coming..
5th person >i'll pick my nose casually but make it look like i'm scratching it

Man, I would like to have a couple of those prints in the background. Specifically the one just above Lasseters head, the one by concept artist David Goetz & used on the cover of "The Art of.." book. Anyone have a hi-res scan of that?

>Ed Catmull, el presidente of Disney animation
Ed pioneered computer graphics in the 1970s and illegal antipoaching measures in the 2000s

No literally he's the epicenter of the unspoken agreement between Disney, Sony etc. to keep their animators underpaid.

Nick's eyes look nothing like a real fox's either, OP.

There's actually fairly few animals with a pronounced white sclera like humans have them. Some dogs do, but that's more due to selective breeding.
