I thought OP meant general secret service stuff and it reminded me of so many arguments about where the human armies are in SU and how it's bad that none showed up to attack the gem invasions.

People really have a hard time understanding that SU earth isn't our earth. The whole narrative is that humans are so fixated on their melancholy lives that magical rock aliens and giant monsters only get a "huh, that's weird" and never looked at again.

The reason people have a hard time with it is that you can't just delete curiosity and desire to explore from humanity and expect civilization to look the same. Steven Universe's humans look and act a lot like our humans, and their civilization is a lot like our civilization. So our natural response is to assume they're just like us, and then wonder why they aren't more bothered by Gem stuff and why they haven't tried to do something like reverse-engineer Gem tech.

If people don't get that SU humans are different than us, that's on Sugar and the rest of the crew. They've failed to make the differences apparent enough that everyone can catch on. They've fucked up.

No human construct can hurt or hold the "gems" for long. "They" don't mess with them due to stories from the deep past, lore, and those who see them. They don't seem to want anything that earth provides.

Any contact has been cut from their end by any means they choose, but their always prepping for something; something that they fear seems to be far out of our scope of influence.

We would ask them to leave but in truth they may have been here longer than man has recorded history.

(sidenote: we do believe that the artifacts around around the world than can't be traced or carbon dated are from either the "gems" or others like them)

Their numbers have grown and shrunk in small numbers. But it seems that it only takes two of them to make a new being far more powerful than they are apart and the more that combine the more power.

We've recorded confrontations with hostiles that seems to share the similar abilities but some seems more militant than the others indicating some sort of government and hierarchy. We've yet to ascertain their system as it seems that the "gems" here have no ranking system but act more as a family unit.

For some time they have had what it would seem to be a young boy among them now but they all admit that he is a hybrid of their leader and a human man. He is the first of his kind and retains most of not all his mother's abilities but with limited knowledge on how to use them.

SU world is like, all middle class. We've seen no evidence of war, high level crime or violence beyond yelling contests over loaned lawnmowers. Even the Mayor's bodyguards are hilariously inept and fled when Steven attacked with a shirt cannon.

That's why there's no armies or other serious fighting force. The humans are too peaceful.
