No.

It is, but Hasbro refuses to stop trying to resuscitate it, just to keep the brand alive if nothing else.

IDW recently converged the Transformers and GI Joe comics into a joined story, along with M.A.S.K., Micronauts, Action Man, ROM Space Knight and a bunch of other IPs nobody gives a shit about. The result being Transformers now has to share screentime and fuse its lore with that of the other IPs, and it hasn't been going great.

Can't believe, don't want to believe.

Thanks for the storytime, anon.
>>
>>94540929

I just feel sorry for him, getting his body taken over like that.
>>
>>94540441
I fucking LOVE this cover! Probably one of the best covers of the entire IDW revival of this series!
>>
>>94541180

This. It was too "to be continued" to be real. It... it just can't be.

Issue 250 reveal? 300? Is Hama telling the truth? It all feels hollow.
>>
>>94540881

1. This is the original A Real American Hero continuity, not the constantly dead and relaunched IDW one.
2. ARAH is amazing.
3. Read it kid.
4. Blaming GI Joe and not the idiots at Hasbro that forced this is idiotic
5. I feel ya though, TF has been rough.
>>
>>94540746
>>94540792
There's enough love for millitary shit and Call of Duty, that there should be space for at least ONE millitary comic out there.
>>
>>94541218
No problem.
>>
>>94544220
>>94541180
Hama has a history of doing this shit for 100% real. So unless Hasbro forces him to bring the character back, I doubt we'll be seeing him again in this continuity.

Though who knows.
>>
>>94544220

Depends on how long a game Hama has. It took how many issues he originally brought back Dr. Venom? How many to bring back Serpentor?
>>
>>94540881
And what does that have to do with ARAH you moron?
>>
bumping to read
>>
>>94547586
Were any of those forced by Hasbro/IDW?
>>
>>94548242
Probably not.
>>
>>94548279

Doctor Venom was an OC from the comic, Hasbro eventually made a toy of him, but they're unlikely to be demanding any GI Joe comic be using him.

Between the Devil's Due GI Joe series, and Hama briefly bringing him back, Serpentor seems to have become a character that Joe comics turn to for a short-term sales boost event story.

This book doesn't seem to have Hasbro telling Hama what characters to use, it's more about letting him do what he wants.
>>
>>94544290
>5. I feel ya though, TF has been rough.

Those books have been getting worse since Dark Cybertron and Season 2, though. It's not like they were perfect and then the Hasbro Universe ruined everything.
>>
>>94540474
this art really seems rushed
>>
Dawn is starting to wear out her welcome.
>>
>>94548242
Hama has gone on record stating that when he writes scripts for ARAH he usually starts with a hand full of action figures and vehicles from his own collection. Then shapes the story arc from there.
>>
>>94540441
Hama's appearing at a local toy convention that I'm going to this weekend.
I have no interest in G.I. Joe outside of its connections to Transformers and I have no intention of interacting with him
>>
>>94540462
The only impact G.I. Joe has had on the IDW Transformers books is their introduction during Titans Return and some secondary plot involvement in Optimus Prime. Everything else is either crossover books that you can skip. What are you so mad about?
>>
Good story, though Gallant's art hasn't been all that great lately.
>>
>>94549926
Well Gi Joe might interact more with Transformers now after the First Strike event. Joe Colton is the new Iron Blood and he is very anti-cybertronian.
>>
>>94550287
that changes absolutely nothing about what i said
>>
>>94540462

>bayformers superior to g.i. joe

gtfo.

western crap translation ruined tf back in the 80s
>>
>>94540746
GI Joe is still fairly well liked and if SDCC is to judge anything by, their GI Joe exclusives selling out shows that there's still a sizable active fanbase.
>>
>>94546690

Yeah but... cartoonish fall off into a bottomless pit with no bodies seen. I mean come on! The man is a snappy pulp genius. It's such a classic set up. And Snake Eyes is as close to a main character as the book ever had. Losing him feels as wrong as it can.

>>94547586

I think he spitballs out something like up to 50 in advance? He's talked about it, but I forget. His plans are always vague and up for change at the slightest whim.
>>
>>94549775

All true. Something like Revolution is just an easy spot to mark a clear shift. And the forced changes all at once just aren't helping either. The Transformers books were fine on their own. But every big Hasbro demanded event has just brought them down a little bit more every time.
>>
>>94551363

Hasbro's problem is they insist on trying to make it for 5 year olds. Shit is way too PC for that these days. Let it be a hard PG-13, who knows maybe an R. Let there be violent video games. Go bonkers, a good heavy Metal Gear like TV show I don't know. Point is GI Joe is a property they need to regear to focus on the 20 to 30 something.

I still can't believe we don't have even a hint of a GI Joe video game universe. It's absolutely perfect for FPS, stealth, certain RPG styles, and so on and so forth. As I mentioned, Hama's stuff is Metal Gear before Kojima got it into his head to to wacky military science fiction anyway. Just roll with that.

Hasbro has to cater to those 5 year olds though, because that's who buys toys.

Of course, I think you're right that they should try on focus on making it more mature, because kids will buy cool things that are mature looking.
Just look at how Call of Duty MegaBlok stuff is popular with kids. Same with Halo and Destiny.
And it's not just because they're building sets, considering how Halo had a very popular toyline.
>>
>>94552083

That's the thing, kids don't really buy toys as much. I suspect that it's the adult fans of those video game franchises buying the toys.

>>
>>94551972
>>94552083
Hasbro has absolutely no idea whatsoever how to translate their IPs into other forms of media. The fact that they can't even do this with VIDEO GAMES is mindblowing and shows that there's ZERO chance of their "shared cinematic universe" ever taking off.
>>
>>94549775
The worst TF book right now is Lost Light, and it's barely even connected to the other TF books, let alone the Hasbro universe stuff.

bumping for others

234KB, 600x429px
So is the cartoon the only time Cobra Commander was an ancient snake mutant?
>>
>>94556345

Yep. There were hints that some aspect of Cobra-la was real in IDW, but that's been abandoned for years.
>>
>>94556345
Yeah, although I can't remember if they used that for Transformers vs. G.I. Joe or not.

And didn't they even retcon that out of the cartoon.
>>
>>94557277
>And didn't they even retcon that out of the cartoon.
No, he just took on a human form in the final episodes.
>>
>>94549856

With her getting Snake-Eyes' memories, it looks like she's going to be around for a while.
>>
>>94554267

Every problem Lost Light and Till All Are One have, is nothing to do with the 'Hasbro Universe', and more to do with the types of fans they're catering to.

It's only the Earth-based Transformers who are really being affected, and outside of events like Revolution or First Strike, it's only Kup and Skywarp having to deal with it every month. And Skywarp hasn't had this much time on-panel since All Hail Megatron, so his fans can't be that angry about it.
>>
>>94549689

This. Hell Hama's been using toys from all eras lately from the 80s to 00s to just a few years ago.
>>
>>94549689
>This book doesn't seem to have Hasbro telling Hama what characters to use, it's more about letting him do what he wants.

Which is what makes it great.
