Sentinel sold but he only works as a friendly rival in Animated, where Prime is a middle level rank instead of one of the 13 god-kings of the Transformers.
No one can challenge Optimus in most versions of Transformers canon so a character like Sentinel almost HAS to be less, well, fun for lack of a better word because it isn't squabbling in the ranks, it's someone challenging a religious and political icon.

The main one being the design choices and the color pallets. The robot designs are hyper-detailed, congested and very bland colorwise. That'd be alright with good lineart in a comic but this is a fast moving action flick, half the time I didn't know who was who and what they were doing. Also that one fucking meme where the film can't keep one shot going for more than 2 seconds didn't help.

That's why I couldn't get into Armada Starscream. I think he's an alright character on his own, but he just didn't feel like "Starscream". With TAAO, it comes across more as Scott trying to incorporate popular headcanons with the abusive dynamic going on. It's like a character cannot be a total asshole and victim of abuse or unjust treatment at the same time.
I just miss Starscream and Megatron as villains instead of a this pity-party they have going on. I mean, there are other ways to make villains deep and complex without resorting to "deep down, he was a good guy after all".

Sonic fans got Mania which is an oldschool Genesis style platformer that they wanted for YEARS, and they got the new Generations style game which is why they wanted sine Generations was deemed the best modern Sonic game AND on top of that they get to build their OCs IN GAME. It's like a wet dream come true.
What do Transformers fans want? G1 fagsa return to the Sunbow cartoon in animate form which won't happen. Beast Wars fans want more BW shit which they aren't getting from anywhere (a few cameos in IDW don't count). UT fags don't really exists and Animated fags want a season 4 which won't happen.
Bayfags want to destroy the entire franchise and rape and pillage everything until only Bayformers remain and everything else is dead and forgotten.
So really you can't please the majority of the fanbase in any way shape or form.

Put it on the transformers: prime level, just have a few humans and make them nothing like the prime kids. Make it G1 and BW design friendly show with some more IDW elements and simplified Milne designs, take the animated idea of making the decepticons more of an antihero faction vs. the (un?)knowingly-functionist autobot faction vs. rebel autobots to change things up a bit but keep Optimus vs Megatron rivalry intact.
Maybe even have episodic shit with different factions like wreckers/scavengers/deathsaurus as it goes on or something.
I mean, it's doable but would probably end up a clusterfuck anyway.

I think i'd love to see both autobots and decepticons shown to be protagonists in different ways, kinda like TFA's portrayal. Have them as two factions who do shit differently, come into conflict with one another but ultimately have a similar vision for cybertron. Add onto that they're alien, which just reinforces that you can not enforce our human understanding gender and sex on a species that is completely unlike us in origin. They're fairly similar in form and mind to a certain degree but that is ONLY superficially. Gender is a COMPLETELY social concept to then because they literally have no sex. From what I pieced together, Arcee being female in IDW was because Jhiaxus was doing creepy science bullshit to fuck with the biology of the cybertronian species, and eventually he ended up finding a way to make Arcee's body register as noticeably Different to everyone else, even if they couldn't pinpoint why right away. The same kind of difference that Cybertronians found in people from Caminus back when trade between Cybertron and the Colonies wasn't isolated before the war.
As to how they all forgot until then, war can do fucked up shit to a species that is born with a roughly adult-level intellect and no reason to question history due to the circumstances. Entire histories erased by attacks, with the only people left to pick up the pieces being those who were born like two years after that attack. That kind of shit.

Nah anon those were the Marvel sales when the comic got axed.
Dreamwave at their prime made like 130K and by the time the got to their ongoing that was down to 29K.
Then IDW took over and at fist they were making betweek 30-20K on Infiltration only to go down to about 15-11K around the AHM era and they've been locked in there ever since.
The current IDW is doing REAL BAD tho with barely 5K an issue so they are scraping though on the hasbroverse bullshit but I think sooner or later they will just kill everything and start over with a single ongoing.

I started reading MTMTE shortly after it started. Read the Delphi arc as recommend by a friend and loved it. Went back and read the first couple of issues. Kept up all with season 1 and genuinely enjoyed it.
I don't know what it was about season 2 but it felt completely different and wasn't nearly as enjoyable. Again it was a lot to do with things that had long been teased that were just plain disappointing to most readers.

Not specific to your post but something similar bugs me a lot because it pops up a lot. "This alien species doesn't have a concept of X!" DOES NOT EQUAL "This alien species doesn't have X!" You can have a concept of something without actually having it. A concept is an idea.

Cybertronians don't have sex, therefore they have a totally different understanding of what gender is, since gender as we understand it has been constructed with sex-based identification in mind. Cybertronian gender would have to be constructed around their "sexes", which are either nonexistent or a large range of different altmode/frametypes.
Anode basically say she's only a she/her because that's what she prefers to be called rather than any other reason, and we have characters like Solus who used she/her which probably gives cybertronians an idea of what to call themselves.
Any direct comparison to organic gender would have to be totally appropriated from sex based organics and essentially meaningless to them apart from as an aesthetic.

- Sex and gender are not 1-1, genders other than male and female exist
- The Thirteen in IDW aren't like the Thirteen in other continuities (read: Aligned), they aren't the first of their kind or the progenitors of ones like them. They were simply powerful tribe leaders.
