Allow me to simply use those powers that I just discovered in this moment and as someone who possesses only a fraction of Aku's actual being to best him at his own abilities, and open up a portal back in time so that we may conveniently escape to the past to a point where Aku was weaker! Nevermind your friends, your place in this new future, or what my happen to me now that the timeline that created me no longer exists! Don't worry though, I'm sure I'll inexplicably stick around for an extended period of time even after you undo the future so that I can fade out of existence in a moment that may or may not be particularly disadvantageous to the concurrent situation!

Changing the past wouldn't make a person from the future suddenly stop existing if they've travelled back in time with you.

to me personally, the outcome of the ending, whether he went back to the past or not, doesn't matter as much as the fact that they didn't even explore the dilemma at all. we're led to believe that jack had never even considered the choice and assumed his friends would still exist.

shoehorning in ashi was just a bad idea from the start when there was already such a glaring loose end that deserved more focus than the typical defrosting ice queen story
