I thought so too. Then /co/ pointed out that women now help write these scripts and I realised I was only laughing by mistake.

I know better now.
>>
It was fine. I think the pickle genocide thing went on a bit much, but I guess they had to draw it out so Rick comes back at the very end of the therapy or something.
>>
>>94510452
Oh shit a woman wrote this episode? What the fuck, to realize I laughed at a woman's jokes sickens me. Since when were they allowed to be involved in comics or cartoons.
>>

It was mediocre and then the therapy stuff happened , sealing the deal that this episode was bad.
>>
>>94510365
Oh fuck, it was?

I knew something was off when I sat there in utter silence during the vast majority of it, but I couldn't put my finger on why! Now I understand, I should have been laughing at the failed punchlines, mostly grossoutgag based center that provided the only even attempt at making something resembling humor land, and the bland talking points in the middle that had some of the laziest and most forced dialog this side of when Family Guy tried to be serious.

I knew something was wrong, all that was funny and I just didn't know it! Thank you, opinion man! You saved me during the Ghostbusters remake and you've saved me yet again from my own lack of laughing!

I found my saying Pickle Rick to myself the next day.

Really I think the whole Jaguar character was wasted. He reminded me of Futurama Gargoyle, who came back.

The poop eating joke wasn't great. I like it in the multiverse television, because I could accept in another universe shit eating was a TV show. The second thing was making the principal the shit eater, I find it hard that he eats shit, when Rick and Morty went into his mind and found nothing about shit eating.

Straight people in the comments of In A Heartbeat: this really isn't an exclusively gay film, if you replace the boy with a girl it's the same story :/

Me in my head: In a Heartbeat is a story about a gay boy struggling to come to terms with his sexuality. The heart represents his feelings, which keeps trying to reach his crush, the only thing holding it back being himself suppressing his feelings. In the scene when Sherwin is outed to Jonathan and the rest of his peers, a crowd of other students appear to look at them with disgust. Everyone is staring, and Sherwin's heart LITERALLY breaks. Being outed against your will feels exactly like that. Straight people will NEVER experience this, it'll never be relatable to them, and it's not meant to be relatable to them. In A Heartbeat is a film for the queer community, and it's something straight people shouldn't touch.

Me out loud, reverting back into my Internet Meme Persona: had it not been for the laws of this land I would have slaughtered you

Anyone else felt like the "you were only special to them, guess it was me you should've impressed" scene was too brutal? It's not like Rick had a personnal vendetta against the rats, and the rats couldn't even understand him, it's just Rick telling himself he doesn't care while torturing an animal to death.

Maybe having pet rats made me overtly sensible to this sort of thing.

I genuinely liked it. I only demand that R&M be both pathetic and sad, and that's pretty much it. I thought they could have squeezed more jokes in there, but the show is finally starting to take the piss out of viewers who think Rick is a hero and awesome and showing them what he was from the start: an absolute abusive piece of shit. It's great.

The second episode wasn't very good, though. Not a lot happening there and it went on for way too long.

Rick isn't exactly a complex person. Any autist would easily figure out he has an inflated ego that he uses to justify his own bullshit since he can't bear the concept of not being the smartest person in the world.
>>
The show is still good because it is exactly what people wanted. Sadly I like the original idea better.

The original idea was that Rick was a old drunk scientist in a very real world getting his grandson to help him do stuff. He wasn't Mr. Perfect and in fact got scared shitless with the first few episodes a few times. He was a real person. Sadly people only saw him as the jaded old man who was perfect and thought that was cooler so they made Rick more perfect overtime and now he isn't scare of shit now because why would he be? People got exactly what they wanted. If this episode was done with the original human Rick he would find the experiment to be stupid and pointlessly risky and ironically enough would just say going to therapy is stupid just like how he told Morty going to school is stupid. The end. This stupid episode exist because people asked for a stupid Rick who is superman levels of perfect that he can get away with doing such. You reap what you sow.
>>
>Morty and Summer: ... I liked her
>Rick and Beth: Yeah we're never going back there again
>Realize Rick and Beth are basically the people shitting on this episode and the kids are the people who didn't mind it

Really tickles the brain box dont it.
>>
>>94513572
>What is TV?
>>
I'm confused. I thought /co/ would love this episode because the female writers are making Beth as shitty as Jerry, if not worse.

Should the therapist have kissed her ass and told her she was right instead of delving into her issues? What the fuck do you people want?
>>
>>94513656
You know, something we tend to overlook but Cronenberg monster universe was apparently the original universe, as Rick himself admitted in this episode ("I already abandoned my daughter once in an alternate universe where everyone turned into monsters"). And, I'm not sure but aren't Beth, Jerry and Summer from that universe still alive? I can't remember if they ever got revisited and killed or not.

Morty's dealt with the fact that he's buried his alternate self and taken his place - in weird ways, but he has - and he's been up front with Summer about it already. Rick doesn't seem to have really dealt with all that. If we take him at his word that he abandoned his daughter "once already" and that that implies that cronenberg world was his native world, then he hasn't actually been hopping from one universe to another taking their places.

I just feel like that's an issue we might come back to again at some point.
>>
>>94513656
What about the upcoming Rest and Ricklaxation episode at the end of the month where R&M are so traumatized by their constant close scrapes with death they have a massive screaming nervous meltdown?
>>
>>94513658

Anon co has had a hate boner for women for a long time now. Women are only used for sex appeal.

It also doesn't help that 60% of women written as competent characters is genuinely not written well but /co/will still shit on decently competent girls.

In this case R&M officially went to shit the day they added women writers apparently.

A lot of /co/, and 4chan in general, has devolved to arguing between fanbases instead of the show itself. You have autistic reddit tier fans, and doubly autistic anti-fans that shit up all discussion.

I unironically sided with Rick this time. Therapy is a lie and a scam.

Psychologists are only good at treating regular people for dumb regular problems. They're not real scientists and should be brought to heel by neuroscience.

I actually did like this episode. Going off the previews for it I kind of dreaded it but it went into a direction I didn't expect at all. I was pleasantly surprised. I hate the faggot fans that jumped on the "Pickle Rick XD" train before the episode was even out.
>>
>Everyone is focused on the new writers ruining everything

>Nobody gives credit to the story boarders for salvaging the episode

They deserve some props given what they had to work with.

all I could think this episode was:Ricj being about to control a cockaroach by licking his brain is retarded, Jesus christ beth how is it two kids are handling this divorce better than you and know rick fucked you up, and jerry is right.
>>
>>94513572
>having a bunch of prior context because it was a topic thoroughly discussed before Rick's arrival.

I mean, you're not wrong though. It just wasn't quite 'out of the blue' as that.

Honestly the main reason I don't care about that shit is because of the whole "Rick knows he's in a TV show" theory. Basically Rick knows that he's in a TV show and the only way he can think of to keep them from getting canceled is to appeal to the big bang style of audience. It makes sense when you go back and see all the times he talks to the camera or does weird stuff that only makes sense to the viewer. Even the pickle episode makes sense from that standpoint. Rick knew the average viewer of the show would never watch an episode where the family just goes to therapy, so he rigs up a ridiculous adventure to keep our attention while the rest of the family develops the plot.

It'd be pretty damn funny to watch Rick break down in one of the last episodes as he goes on about how they're on TV and the only way he knew to keep the show from falling flat was by throwing in random BS every so often to keep the casual fanbase entertained. Contrived as hell and would piss off most of its viewership to no end, but you'd be lying if there weren't signs that this was going to happen. Hell even the most recent episode had a 4th wall breaking "Uhhh... we'll be right back" where Rick looks directly at the viewer before cutting to commercial.

Rick and Morty is far from perfect but it has enough funny moments that it keeps my attention. If it turns out that that is the correct theory then the fallout when they finally bash the average viewer upside the head with it will be incredible, putting the Samurai Jack finale outrage to shame. If not, oh well I got a few good laughs and it's not the worst show on TV, no skin off my bones and I have something to relate with people at work when they want to talk about TV.

When the therapist said you can't wipe or brush your teeth without dying, did anyone else think: Challenge Accepted.

4chan likes all that, and so do I. I think where we diverge is on character development. I like developing characters. A lot of 4chan hates characters, because "characters" = "other people". and it reminds them that they have no other people in their life

It was mostly awesome because of Pickle Rick.

So basically silent survival and hedberg humor is basically the new thing edgy kids like?

Its just downright hilarious when 14 year Olds try to be all mature like and cool.

It was a nice return to form. the fight scenes were great. the emotional stuff was par for the course and forwarded the story. I laughed.

/co/ is just weird, op. don't let its opinions tell you what to like.

Listen kid explain to me how reducing psych to study neuroscience assist us in explaining the effect of situation on behaviour or the effect of other people on behaviour? Explain how we would gain a better understanding of human behaviour in reducing it to neuroscience?

This is why you're not respected. Study how to figure out which receptors are responsible for what mental illnesses or regular responses and what drugs can be used to change that.

Ok let me straighten you two out.

It depends whether all psychological phenomena can be reduced to a neural basis, but in a way that doesn't lose the meaning of the original level of description.

Think tectonic plates - if you tried to explain their movement in terms of particle physics, you'd lose the understanding of what was going on with reference to the geological process.

That being said neuropsychology is a thing you autistic fucks.

That still falls in line with having a psych degree means you have magical deduction powers. Talking to someone about you doesn't give them insight, it gives them insight to opinions about you. It's hardly fair to base a giant monologue off of someone else's perception.

Can you really call referencing a dipping sauce that hasn't been available for almost two decades, product placement?
And before you say that McDonalds will just bring it back for next year's live action Mulan remake, they won't. Disney stopped doing promotional shit with McDonalds years ago.
